Animals Available For Adoption

Our Featured Pet(s)...

April 2.jpg

April is a Lab mix female.  She is approximately 2 -3 years old.  April is spayed, heartworm negative and current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative.  April is a sweet girl who weighs in around 40 – 45 lbs.  She does well with most other dogs but tends to take on the dominant role.  However, her new kennel mate has her wrapped around his paw.  J  She does not do well with cats or other small animals.  She loves to cover her food up with anything she can find.  That can be hay, dirt, a blanket.  It doesn’t matter to her.  J  April loves attention from her humans and is a very sweet and smart girl.  With some training, she will be just about perfect.  J  April’s adoption fee is $90.00.  Please call or email to schedule an appointment to meet her.

The shelter is full.  We will NOT be accepting any new animals until further notice.  Please consider taking your stray or unwanted animal into the Houston SPCA, Citizens for Animal Protection or the Humane Society.  You may also list animals at www.houston.craigslist.org.  Thank you.

Sponsors

We would like to recognize and thank Kim Tompkins for her generous donation of $200 to pay for Melody’s heartworm treatment.  Thank you for helping Melody.

Please consider sponsoring a dog with heartworms.  Hooch is in need of treatment. The cost for his treatment is $250.00.  Donations can be sent to C.A.R.S. or to our vet.  The address for C.A.R.S. is 2078 Angel Cove Lane, Sealy, TX 77474.  The address for Sealy Vet Clinic is below.  Donation receipts will be mailed for tax purposes.  Please note on the bottom of the check who you are sponsoring and we will put your name on our website.  Thank you.

Volunteer Positions Available

We are in desperate need of volunteers in the following areas.

Adoption Day volunteers:  We need people who are willing to assist us during adoption days.  You may work a morning, afternoon or all day shift.  We need assistance with setting up and taking down the crates and equipment, as well as walk the dogs, feed them treats and speak with those interested in learning more about our foster dogs.  Foster Parents:  If you are interested in fostering for us, please let us know.  C.A.R.S. pays for all vet bills, food, heartworm prevention, etc.  There are not out of pocket expenses for the foster parent.  Garage Sale Fundraising Volunteers:  We participate in the Sealy and Wallis City Wide garage sale in order to raise money to fund our rescue.  We could use folks to help price donated items, assist us in setting and taking down the garage sales, and man the garage sales.  Handyman Volunteers:  There is plenty of maintenance to be done and repairs to be made around here.  We have a shed that needs to be finished out in order to be water tight and usable.  We also have dog houses that occasionally need repair along with kennels and crates from time to time.  Photography Volunteer:  Do you love to take pictures of animals then consider coming out to help us take photos of dogs and puppies up for adoption.  Internet Update Volunteer:  We have 3 websites that need constant updating and we could sure use some help.  If you are internet savvy and would like to help, please let us know.  Kennel Volunteer:  We are looking for some very responsible folks to help us with the daily kennel work.  We have an outdoor kennel only.  Anyone interested will help us feed and water the dogs, clean feces out of each kennel and wash and sanitize all water buckets and food bowls weekly.  It is important that all kennels be fastened properly in order to prevent any dogs from escaping.

News...

We have a garage sale coming up in April that we will need volunteers to help with.  Anyone willing to come out and help set up, run and take down the garage sale would be greatly appreciated.  There are usually only 2 of us full time at the garage sale plus my children and a few of their friends.  We could use more help.  So, if you think you might be interested in helping us out, please call or email us to talk about it.  Thanks.

Call for directions.  Hours vary because we work from our homes.  Give us a call and we will see what we can work out if you are interested in coming out to visit.  We do not have a building where all our foster animals are housed.  All animals are at foster homes or outdoor kennels.  C.A.R.S. volunteers work from home.   We will often rearrange our schedules in order to meet with you if you are interested in meeting one of our foster animals.  If you cannot make it, please call us so we are not waiting for you to arrive.  Thank you.
