Tucker (formerly Snug) |

My heart was broken after my 10 yr. old Maltese died
suddenly in May. The depression became so overwhelming at times
and I wondered if I would ever heal. Thanks to Petfinder and the
Bedford Humane Society I have met the perfect companion.
"Tucker" has been a true blessing to me. His injuries
from being abandoned have healed and he knows he is safe and surrounded
with love. This little dog has become so special.
I needed him as much as he needed me...a perfect match! Thanks
again for rescuing these wonderful animals and seeking permanent, loving
homes which they truly deserve!
Happy again, |

Note: Snug was found roaming with another dog near Snug Harbor at Smith Mountain Lake. Judging from his condition, which included multiple lacerations, he had been "on the road" for quite some time. He was kindly and generously treated for his injuries at Bedford Animal Hospital before being taken into our foster care. |

Thought you'd appreciate an update on Miss Luna. She's thriving as a farm dog, as I imagine you thought would happen. She has boundless energy for play and is the first dog I have seen wear out my 9 yr old Lab cross (who still thinks he's a puppy). She's even got my Walker hound playing with her,
which is amazing because our other cattle dog was so aggressive with her
that she was terrified of her.
She's no longer indifferent to food...maybe it's the spaying but I think
it's primarily how active she is. We've now got everyone on a diet; she
gained about 5 lbs. (more than 10% of her body weight!) since she's been
here. If Luna can't eat...can't nobody else better eat either.
We're still having some issues with chasing and nipping the horses but only once in a while now. She's been to basic obedience school at PetsMart and that's helped us get her focused on diverting her chasing energies. I wish I had pictures to share of her playing Tug with the Lab (they have a pink snake with heads on both ends) but so far the pix are too dark. She's just been a joy and I thank you for being the kind, loving foster mom how gave her such a good start. Jayne |

I should tell you that never has a family loved a dog more than we love this dog. She is just the sweetest little girl. She knocks herself down wagging her tail and is happy to see everyone she meets. She even treats the useless cats with way more respect then they deserve. You did such a great job fostering her – thanks again. Please tell the rescuer thanks again from Nikki’s family. She is a treasure Hope all is well with you. Linda

Sadie
I hope that the other dogs and cats are as lucky as I am and can find a special home where their humans will love them and take time to train them and care for them. God bless you for all that you did for me. Affectionately, Sadie/Faith (Note: Sadie was in foster care for 3 years before finding her perfect home.) |

I wanted to tell you and all the other foster people. It is all of you that makes these animals a success story. With the love and patience you give to these animals and the training to trust people and other animals is what gets these homeless animals a chance in life. I personally want to thank Doreen for Niki, you gave Niki things that makes her special. She is sweet, loving and wants to be every bodies friend. I am so glad that I came across her on the web site. My other two girls are special too but there is a special place in my heart for Niki. Thanks to all of you. - Becky |
