Check all that apply:
Trap/Neuter/Return: Trap feral cats during the evening/nighttime hours, transport them to/from the clinic, then return them to their colonies 24-48 hours later. You will need to house them in a safe, climate-controlled area until their release, and provide them food and water in the trap. We have seasoned volunteers who can mentor you through the entire process.
Feral Colony Care: Provide food and water to a colony of feral cats. You will communicate periodically and report any changes to the condition of the cats, arrival of new cats or disappearance of existing cats, suspicious activity in the area, or anything else of concern.
Cat Transport: You will transport cats to/from the clinic, and occasionally foster homes or adoption centers. Weekdays during business hours, and Sunday mornings, are most needed.
Field Rescue: Pick up cats from shelters, rescue cats from dangerous situations, capture kittens, sick, or injured cats. You may be asked to evaluate cats for adoptability.
Fostering and Socialization: We need foster homes for adoptable cats, where they will stay until they are either ready for adoption or have found a home. This might include adults or weaned kittens, moms (tame or feral) with nursing kittens, orphaned kittens who need to be bottle-fed, kittens needing socialization, or sick cats/kittens. We will provide all supplies, and any authorized medications or vet care. You may be asked to screen and evaluate potential adopters, and perform home visits and follow-up visits.
Cleaning: Clean and sterilize equipment, including traps and covers, carriers, bedding, dishes, litter pans, etc.
Staff Event Booth: Take a shift with another volunteer at our table at various events throughout the year. You may be needed to set up, talk with potential volunteers and adopters, educate on the importance of spay and neuter, especially TNR, clean up and break down.
Craft and Handy Work: Make trap covers, items for fundraiser raffles, shelters for feral colonies and feeding stations, repair equipment.
Fundraising: Solicit donations and grants for the organization, market current campaigns, facilitate receipt of large items. Even if you can't manage large projects, you can still organize bake sales and rummage sales, collect food and other supplies needed by ALF (see our Wish List).
Communication: Help with phone calls, newsletters, and other correspondence, and placing and monitoring on-line ads.
