Looking for a lapcat? Our cats
are shelter cats who have been loved by someone at some time in their
lives. Circumstances, some of which we will never know or
understand, have brought them to the Sacramento County Shelter where our
LAPCATS program developed. We are committed to finding forever homes for
adult cats (and occasional kittens) and strive to find the best match
for both humans and the cats we save. You can find us inside
PetSmart at 8215 Laguna Blvd., Elk Grove, California. We’re LAPCATS
(Laguna Adoption Program County Animals TEAM Sacramento). LAPCATS
is staffed and managed by Sacramento County Animal Care and Regulation
(SCACR) volunteers with help from TEAM (Teaching Everyone that Animals
Matter, the local nonprofit associated with the shelter).
Our cats are screened thoroughly for personality, temperament and health
while in the shelter, and in sponsor care. The sponsor family
evaluates the cats for “pet ability” and how the cats react to normal
day-to-day situations with other people and pets.
Prior to their arrival at our adoption center, our cats are all spayed or neutered, micro-chipped,
treated for fleas/ticks, de-wormed, vaccinated, and have been tested for
FELV/FIV.
Are you ready for a cat? Animals can add tremendous joy and
companionship to our lives, but they are not perfect, and involve
responsibility and commitment.
