Hi,
This is Chuck. Just sending you a couple photos of our Golden Retriever Sasha
along with the new member of the family, Dakota (previously Lucas). Dakota is
great with Sasha and has already established his protocol for walks in the
morning and in the afternoon. He loves to talk with us with his howling to let
us know, hey!, lets play, or lets go outside for a walk. He and Sasha do well
by themselves in house during the day and has not created any messes in the
house. Only one accident in the house thus far which is not bad. Looking at
the pictures you would never guess they are spoiled right? Also sent a picture
of Sahsa, Dakota, and I in the foothills going up for a hike. Well keep you
updated. Thanks to Polaris for doing what you guys do to find homes for these
guys.
Hey,
We wanted to keep you posted on Kuma. He is doing great and even learning
to do some skijoring! He gets plenty of exercise and has gained 12 lbs! He
is in great shape. I have attached a couple of photos. Thanks for getting
us a great friend.
Marie
Hello,
I wanted to give you an update on a dog we got from your rescue. Her name is
Ginger, she is a red and white husky with blue eyes, and she was fostered with
Cheryl Morgan in June. We absolutely love Ginger, and couldn't be more thrilled
with her in our family. She has been with us for over six months now, and we just
love her. She is gentle, sweet, happy, balanced, and terrific with our small
children, as well as our small dog and our cat. I take her everywhere with me when
the temperature is low enough, and she has become my "co-pilot". All the
neigborhood kids know her, and run to see her when she is out with us, even a little
boy down the street who is terrified of all other dogs but her. She has had some
serious health issues, but now that our vet has found them out, she is on medication
and she has gained a lot of weight and looks very healthy now.
Anyways, I didn't want to bother you, but I am so thankful we adopted her from you
that I had to say something. I have never met a sweeter, more patient, more gentle,
more loving dog. She is a definite success story, and we are nuts about her. She
has made a huge difference in our lives. Thank you again,
Jennifer

My name is Clover (I'm on the right), and it always has been. I was brought to my
new home in Arvada more than a year ago, and I am enjoying a life of love and
acceptance from my parents and from my new sister Cleopatra(she's Half Siberian, and
half coyote). Our dad takes us for long walks around the neighborhood, and all
around the park. Sometimes we go and see the donkey down the street. The donkey
seems to enjoy our company, because he always comes to the fence to say hi. Mom lets
us sleep on the bed with her and dad, they are our pack. Thanks, Polaris, for the
family, I love em lots.
Hello!
Just wanted to share a picture from my first real dog-sled pull today! My sister is
very experienced at this and I have been practicing wearing the harness during
walks, but today the conditions were perfect for running! We didn't go very far and
I was pretty tired afterward, but it was really fun! Thanks so much for finding me
a good home - I really like it here!
Love,
Avalanche
Hey Polaris,
I adopted Knight in June of 2005 and I have to say it was the best thing I
ever did. Knight and I have become best friends. We hang out together all
the time. We do all sorts of things like hiking, camping, running, and just
playing together. He's really a great pal. Knight's been working really
hard on all the commands he's learning. He can sit, lay down, and come
perfectly now. His favorite things are to go on hikes, chase after a tennis
ball, or sometimes just lay about watching TV. Knight and I have really
bonded like close friends. I can't imagine a day without him now. Here's a
picture of the two of us on the summit of Handies Peak (14048ft).
Thanks Polaris.

Dear Siberian Husky Rescue,
Just wanted to give you a quick update on Kuma. He is doing great he walks 3 miles
everyday plus one sometimes two trips to the dog park. He goes to soccer matches
and hiking trips, in fact he completed a trip to the top of the fourteener Mt.
Oxford last weekend with the boy scout troop, He is getting used to being left
alone (for short periods) We will continue working on that! He has made himself at
home on the sofa and is becoming Max's life long friend. We are thrilled and
grateful for the match.
Thanks,
Marie
Dear Siberian Husky Rescue,
Thank you so much for all of the hard work you do finding huskies good
homes. Logan (previously Dakota), been with us for a little over two
months and is doing great! He's gaining some weight, and is getting
along great with our other dog Abby. They love to play and chase each
other. Logan makes a wonderful running partner and we've taken him
camping and hiking both with great results. He loves chasing tennis
balls and playing in his baby pool. I think his favorite thing though
is sitting or laying anywhere near my husband or I. He's a lover,
that's for sure. His basic obedience training is coming along very
well and he seems very eager to learn. He gets a lot of compliments on
his looks as well! I think I have the best looking dog in the
neighborhood. I'm so glad we found Polaris and that we were matched
with such a great dog. I've wanted a husky for as long as I can
remember and I honestly think I ended up with an exceptional example
of what a great breed they are.
Thanks,
Michaelanne
Dear Siberian Husky Rescue,
I wanted to update you on my relationship with Dakota (formerly Zeuss).
First off, thank you for everything you do to find these great animals good
homes. It has been 15 months since I adopted Dakota, and he has been
amazing. I'm not sure whether I picked him or he picked me when we went to
the rescue, but it worked out great. When I sat in the chair at the rescue
he came right over to me and sat with me the whole time. He still does the
same thing today. When a room is filled with people he always nests himself
right by me. Dakota loves to run along side me while I rollerblade, and he
loves spending time in the mountains.
Thanks,
Andrew
Dear Siberian Husky Rescue,
It's been about six months since Kodi and Lobo arrived here in Pueblo, and
they're doing great! Dakota (our older husky) loves the company, and it's
put some years back on her life (she's 11 now), being active and with the
company. I've sent a couple f pictures to show how I'm greeted by "the boys"
whenever I get home. Everyone that sees them compliments on how beautiful
they are (and what's not to love). I'm so thankful that Polaris Rescue
allowed me the privlege of providing these two a home where they are loved
and spoiled. Thanks again and God bless you and Polaris Rescue for the
fabulous work you do for these beautiful dogs.

Dear Siberian Husky Rescue,
Thank you for taking the time to find me a good home. My new parents are great and
I love my friends. Thought I would tell you I have gained 5 pounds now.....I get to
eat really good food and have lots of time to play. Well I have to go out and run
and chase that big white dog again.
Love,
Nikita
Dear Siberian Husky Rescue,
I just wanted to thank you for bringing me my sister Bailey (pictured on right).
This photo is of our first birthday party. I too began my life as a wayward youth.
My first owners didn't understand the strong will and personality of a husky. I
lived in crate in a third story apartment! Needless to say, I developed some behavior problems.
After I got re-adopted by my parents, I got better everyday. When Bailey walked in my door a lot
of my problems just melted away. I really had to grow and be the big brother and act
like part of the pack. Our pack hikes and walks in the summer and backcountry
snowboards in the winter.
We are some happy dogs!!!! Siberian Husky Rescue matched us with the perfect husky.
Thank you so much.
Love,
Blue (pictured on left)
Polaris adoptee Bo was selected as Camper of the Week at Camp Bow Wow in
Broomfield, Colorado!
Bo is a very sweet and handsome husky. He loves to tell the staff all kinds
of wonderful stories (especially at naptime). And we get so much love and
wet kisses!! He is one of our best singers here and he knows it! His mom,
Rabekah, thinks he is the best and we agree!! Congrats Bo!
I just wanted to let you know how happy and fortunate we feel to have Chloe
in our life. We picked her up from Polaris last April (2005) and have enjoyed
every minute. After a bought with separation anxiety she is now doing
wonderful. We take her everywhere with us and she is a great representative
of the Husky breed and Polaris. She is so wonderful and loving with
everyone who wants to pet her or give her a smooch. She goes shopping with
us, out to lunch and even made a road trip to Iowa to visit my parents in
October. There she met her cousin Cilcy who is a Minature pinscher and she
did quite well playing with her and sharing her toys and food! My family
adores her and after the visit to my parents my Mom thanked her for being
such a lovely house guest.
We have used her as a socialization dog for our friend's akita/german
shepherd mix. He was deathly afraid of people and was too frightened to go
on walks. We started by inviting him over and he and Chloe played together
and had a ball. He felt comfortable enough to go on a walk and with her
encouragement (she would run up and nudge him and shoulder bump him to keep
him from backing away from people) he began to stay on the path when people
walked by. After several walks he even became brave enough to go up to
people and let them pet him.
Chloe has brought so much joy to our life and she keeps us laughing. She
enjoys her runs with Mark in the mornings and her walks with me in the
evenings. We are both getting the exercise we need and it keeps Chloe
mellow and happy. We took her to a fund raiser for the humane society and
she got quite a bit of attention because
of her sweet disposition.
Thank you for all you do at Polaris. Chloe has brought such joy to our
lives. Attached are a few pictures of her relaxing "Chloe" style. one with
Grandma on the sofa (1/2 hour after they first met!), one with her doggles
on and one of each with Mark and myself.

Polar (formerly Sasha) our beautiful, shy but playful dog came to us as a blessing we could not have
imagined! She reminds us to smile, give lots of hugs and kisses and get plenty of
exercise together. Our four young children adore her and our cat has learned to
"allow" her to live here with us. She has brought so much laughter and joy to our
home. We thank all those who are dedicated to helping the Siberian Husky rescue
team. We want to personally thank Rachael and Jeff who brought our wonderful new
addition to our home and took so much personal time on that fateful November
afternoon. Thank you for all your help in locating important medical
information; your wonderful advice and your dedication to helping so many animals in
need! We think you are awesome! We
thank our dog’s foster parents in Kansas. Your foster pup is doing so well. Thank
you for giving her a good start. We know that each human life she touched will
remember this special dog… forever.
Thank you!
The Wilson Family
Here's Bandit, formerly known as Nikko, (pictured on the left) with his new
packmate, Cheyenne. At 7 months old, he is already so well behaved, such a
joy to have around. He's only been here a week and he fits in to our little
family like he's always been here. I am thankful for Polaris and its
volunteers. It takes special people to keep this kind of an awesome
organization going. Thanks for taking care of Bandit until he joined us,
he's now happy and healthy thanks to you! Keep up the good work!!!
Sincerely, Kristen
I haven't talked with you since that Saturday you called and told me about
Nakia (on right in picture). I just wanted to update you on her. She is
doing just fine, playing and romping in the yard with my Cassie, my other
dog. The two of them are almost always together! Right now, they are both
in the yard, chewing on a big beef soup bone that I gave to each of them!
They also each got a pig ear earlier this morning! She has gained 10 pounds
since I've gotten her, and she looks SO much better! Still thin, but not
terribly boney the way she did. When I weighed her last week, she weighed
45 pounds. At night, she sleeps on the bed with me and my husband, or she
will sometimes lay with Cassie at the foot of the bed. Cassie doesn't
usually stay on the bed for very long, I think it gets too crowded for her!
I really wanted to thank you and Chris for bringing this beautiful and sweet
dog into my life! She is so wonderful, and I am so glad you called me first
about her! Like I told Chris, I guess God wanted her to come to me! I am also
so thankful to Chris for everything that he has done for me! From hot-wiring
the fence, to all the tips he has given me about huskies and dog parks! God
bless the two of you for the work you do and the kindness that you give to all
the dogs in your care! I know they are grateful for you!
I promise to keep in touch and give you updates on Nakia. It is truly
wonderful to have her, and I know that Cassie loves her and is happy that she
is here also!
Mary
Jenna (the pretty white gal on the right) adopted Dan and Jessica as her
family in May of 2004. Since then Jenna has made the family very much HERS;
she immediately made herself at home and settled right in with their current
husky, Gunner. (He pretty much does what ever Jenna wants!) Jenna has also
taken to the Malamute/German Shepherd mix puppy, Bo, another rescue pup who
is a recent addition the pack. Dan and Jessica report that Jenna treats Bo
as if he were her own flesh and blood! This canine trio has it made in this
wonderful husky home, and all of us at Polaris are grateful to Dan and Jessica
for giving sweet Jenna a forever home!
My name is "Luna" (previously "Lady," but that name didn't last long due
to my constant burping and other unlady like behavior). I was adopted by
Dave & Romy when they moved to CO in 2003.They had just lost their 13 year
old Husky due to cancer and wanted to dive right back into that Husky kind
of life. Unfortunately, I spent some time at a shelter before Polaris took
me in and then had to go to a foster home because I was getting teased by
the other dogs. I guess because of my quiet, shy & unusual personality, I was
not very adoptable. But, Romy had been working with animals for years and
knew how to work with a girl like me, and Dave was just a boy I knew I would
love. Its been a year now & I am happy and healthy and extremely spoiled.
In fact I have never been left alone since the day I was adopted because I
don't do well alone at all. So, I spend most of the time on the couch & taking
rides in my car where I have my own bed, treats and water setup. I tolerate
the four cats that were here before me and tolerate the people I meet on the
street, but would prefer to be at my new home watching TV & sleeping. I am
pictured here with my feline friend "Gabby." She is the one I like the best.
I love my new, forever-family with Dave & Romy; I couldn't ask for a better
home!
The handsome and debonair Woofie (aka Wolfgang) is an amazing dog adopted
by Steph & her finance in the Spring '04. After being over looked for
almost two months at a local animal shelter, Woofie came to Polaris to
find a second chance. Though he has a terrific temperament, is in perfect
health and well trained, and is as sweet as they come, Being 7 years old,
he didn't fit the ideal "young" dog that most people are looking for.
However, after coming to us, not only did Woofie find outpouring of love
and attention in foster care, he found a perfect new home after only a
few months, where he lives in the mountains with his Husky "girlfriend,"
Sterling, and goes on hikes and bike ride outings all the time (when he's
not out relaxing on the porch, that is!). We couldn't have asked for a
better ending to Woofie's story! Thanks to Steph for welcoming this big
fella into her home & heart!
After being with us for several months, Vladamir (fka Bailey) was adopted
by Maria Morgan and her husky, Taz. He is living in the lap of luxury
now, and loves being spoiled rotten by his momma and adored by everyone
he meets. Thanks to Maria and her family for providing this wonderful
pup with a forever home!
Hercules writes: "I was adopted on a warm Saturday in April by a wonderful
family with a female husky. When my new owners took me for a walk around
Polaris it was love at first site (with them and their little girl). My
new mom and dad took me home and I immediately took to my new surroundings.
It's wonderful here: I stay inside with my sister Nikaya and when mom and
dad are home they let us go in and out as we please. I like my yard and
all of the wonderful toys. And guess what . . . I get to lay on the couch,
the bed, or my new dog pillow mom made for me right when I got here. We
go on long walks and my dad is a soccer coach so on days that aren't too hot
we get to go watch all the kids play soccer. I really like those days because
I get to meet all kinds of new people and mom brings cookies and water for
Nikaya and I to munch on. I've adjusted very well to this life of luxury.
I've met everyone in the local dog store Lewis & Bark, Nikaya and I go every
weekend. I couldn't be happier with my new family and knowing that I finally
have my forever home!" A huge thank you to the Sanchez family who opened
their hearts and home to this wonderful pup!
The Wignalls were in search of a new companion for their Shepherd mix,
Beatcho, after losing their friend of 16 years (Sarah). Initially, they
had their hearts set on a Malamute, but when they found the Polaris site,
they did some research and decided looking at Huskies would be worthwhile,
as they also loved this breed's intelligence and sensitivity. Carol writes:
"I made a trip out to the center first meeting Cheryl to see the puppies -
and there in the midst of these huskies was Hailey - she came from Wyoming
as a voluntary surrender - but not before being treated badly enough that she
was very hand shy. The closest I could come was to have her run up lick my
hand and then back off to give me a cautious woo woo! From the moment I saw
her and heard that howl I knew she was the one. I returned two weeks later
with Beatcho for a face to face and that's when I met Jody. Hailey had made
remarkable progress in that two weeks and we were able to get a leash on her
and she was much more comfortable with people. Despite some initial
insecurities from Beatcho, once at home the two dogs settled in quickly
and except for a few scuffles they are becoming very good friends and
playmates! They both enjoy taking their evening walks to the school yard -
nosing their leashes as soon as I come home from work, playing in the yard,
sleeping under the lilac bush, and playing with toys - Hailey's favorites are
the sock and her balls - and her tail! They are also masters of the begging
game at dinner time - Beatcho's been giving Hailey a few tips! As you can see,
Hailey seems to think that we have the couch just for her!" Our gratitude
goes to the Wignalls for seeing Harley's true spirit beneath her shy
exterior, and giving her a loving forever home.
The Slaters are an invaluable asset to Polaris, and we thank them not only
for providing such an incredible home to two of the Polaris dogs, but also
for all the phenomenal work they do for the Rescue. Here's their story:
"We adopted our first Husky from PSHR in Sept of 2000 after our own male
Husky died of renal failure. We went to pick a Husky in Ft. Collins but
little did we know Rocky would pick us. Rocky (then Sitka) would not stop
following my husband around and sitting at his feet. I personally did not
want a red/white dog, but like I tell everyone now, try not to look at
color, look to see which dog clicks with you and your family. Needless to
say, we adopted Rocky and as we drove home, it was clear he was the right
choice as he sat right between my husband and I. Rocky still is a lover and
loves to be right next to you. He is a kind and gentle spirit. Lucy Lu
came into our family in Jan. of 2001 after our other female Sibe died
unexpectantly. Lucy Lu (AKA Star) was picked on a very cold day and Lucy Lu
and Rocky immediately loved one another as they slept next to each other
from day one. Lucy Lu loves to talk and to be the boss and Rocky glady
goes along with her. Their favorite things to do are going to Happy
Tails Dogpark, running, hiking, and just being with each other and of
course us. Because I realized how precious my own rescued Sibes were I
decided I needed to help other Huskies and have been volunteering with
Polaris since then. Here is a family portrait of us on top of Torres Peak."
The Mangino family adopted beautiful Osirus into their home, and are just
the perfect family for him. Love, exercise, and attention is abundant,
just what we wish for all the Polaris Sibes! They write: "Just wanted to
let you know that Osiris is having a blast in his new home. Instead of
going to Chatfield everyday like I used to, we're alternating between
there and Rover's Run at Highlands Ranch so that Siris can have some
off-leash fun too. He's great with all the other dogs he's met. Very
gentle and well behaved. I'm starting some training with him, and he seems
to be quite a smart fellow!"
Meikko (fka Chewy) was a Polaris dog for well over a year before the Shea
family welcomed him into their home. They write: "We adopted Miekko a
little over a year ago. He is very curious and playful. He loves to run at
the dog park and meet other dogs. He gets bored and gets into a little
trouble now and then. At first Miekko and Cayenne (our 10 year old husky)
tolerated each other but now they are best friends. Miekko is a very
enthusiastic walker, and is very vocal when he needs some attention. He has
his own end of the sofa and his own pillow bed. He is a very sweet dog and
has added a lot of personality to our home." Many thanks to the Shea family
for welcoming this loving pup into their pack!
Nikko came into rescue from a local shelter when his owners figured out he
was too much for them. He immediately went into foster care as he was very
young. He thrived and only chewed on one chair in his foster home - pretty
good for a puppy! While on a trip to the dogpark, Nikko met what would be
his new owner, Lee. Lee and Pat Baker were looking for a Siberian as a
companion for their 1 year old mix, Zeke, and to fill a void left by their
female Husky's passing. After 1 month in rescue, Nikko went to his new home.
Lee and Pat will be the first to admit, it was difficult at first with all
his Husky energy and he had some GI problems. He and Zeke played nonstop and
Lee continued his trips to the dogpark with the 2 dogs. Nikko is over a year
now and still has lots of energy!! Some of his favorite things to do are dig
up Mom's flowers, go to the dogpark, he has really taken to swimming, and he
loves to give kisses. He has turned into a gorgeous sweet boy! Thanks to
Lee, Pat, and Zeke for your patience and love and for giving Nikko his forever
home!
Will came into rescue from a terrible situation where he spent the first year
of his life tied up on the top of someone's roof and fed trash and scraps.
Underweight and neglected this could not stop his Iron Will. He still is
the sweetest and friendliest Sibe you'll ever meet. Will went to his new
home in August of 2003. The Kammerzell's and their Husky female welcomed
him into their home. Last we spoke, Will was doing great and the Kammerzell's
were dedicated to giving him a wonderful home. Will came from such harsh
beginnings and it is great to see him finally receive the love he deserves.
Thanks to the Kammerzell family for giving Will his forever home.
Zack (the handsome red boy on the left) was a beloved pet who was sadly
surrendered because of a divorce situation. However, he found an absolutely
wonderful home with the Wood family, and their dog, Bucky, and cat, Gracie.
Robbin and Steven were grieving the loss of their female Malamute, and were
concerned that Bucky would be lonely without a canine companion. Their
concerns were allayed immediately upon meeting Zack, as it was love at first
site for all involved (except maybe Gracie!). Zack is living an ideal life
in the mountains and gets loads of love and attention from all who meet him,
and he and Bucky have become the best of friends. Thank you to the Woods
for opening your hearts and home to this great Sibe!
Beautiful Vashti was adopted in the summer of 2003 by the McCarthy family.
She joined two well-loved canine brothers, Chakka and Boomer, and the three
make an absolutely incredible trio. Despite vision problems, which are
being successfully treated by her great new family, Vashti now lives a
pampered life up in the mountains where she gets to romp around and play
non-stop. Thank you to Deb and Dennis for loving this sweet girl and
providing her with such a wonderful home!
We adopted Tucker in July 2000. He had been in rescue for 6 months or more, I
think. He joined his new sister, Isis, who is about the same size and age,
and was also given up by her first owner. Tucker is a "Velcro dog." He
loves to be near his humans. And, unlike most huskies, he shows no interest
in running off. He and Isis are both trained on the Invisible Fence, and
respect it to the point of chasing rabbits and stopping at the boundary.
(I still wouldn't recommend it for most huskies unless the owner is going
to take extreme pains in the training.) He has become crate-trained, and,
although he occasionally complains about it, he actually loves to spend
time in his crate. They both do, in fact. They love car rides and walks,
as well. Tucker is even learning to wear his harness and pull me on my
bicycle. Maybe someday, we'll try skijoring. Tucker has been a wonderful
addition to our family, and this is demonstrated most as we watch he and
Isis tearing around the backyard in a full speed chase of each other.
They are such good buddies! Regards, Dave K.
Kenai has been living with us and Louis, our husky-shepherd mix, for a
year and a half now. She's the sweetest dog we've ever had! There's
no sign of the mistreatment she faced before we had her (that's how she
lost the eye) in her personality at all -- although it did take her a
few months to warm up to us. We'd like to encourage others who have some
experience with dogs to adopt special needs animals. They really appreciate
a good home and make wonderful, loving pets! Thanks for Polaris for bringing
Kenai to our home! Sincerely, Lilias Jarding
"We are finally getting around to sending you a picture of Micky, whom we
adopted from you in November of 2001 (can't believe it's been that long!).
Thank so very much for your patience with us as we tried to find the right
dog for our family. Micky is such a part of our lives, it's hard to imagine
life without her now. She loves to hike, run, play in the snow and pull.
We've been taking her to the large off leash dog park at Chatfield State
Park, and she even swims in the pond! She's perfectly behaved there, and
always comes back when called. Otherwise, she is always leashed when not
in our fenced yard. You were right, too, about people noticing her.
Everytime we take her out, even just for a walk, people make comment about
how beautiful she is. I check your website regularly, and you've had some
wonderful dogs. I tell everyone about the rescue in hopes that it helps
find your great dogs homes. Thank you again and best regards from The
Norris Family"
"After taking in Kodiak 3 years ago, we decided she needed a friend. We were
introduced to Denali (aka Sky) and his baby blue eyes at the rescue in
August 2002 and immediately knew it was a perfect match. The two of them
met at a dog park in Greeley and it wasn't long before they were off and
running. It was like they didn't even know we were there. After an hour of
hard playing it was off to their new home. Kodiak (Kody for short) and
Denali play all day long and are NEVER apart from each other. They spend
their weekdays in a big backyard and also have a door into the garage.
After a hard day of wrestling and chasing one another around the yard they
are always at the garage window waiting for us when we get home. On
weekends and days when mom and dad are home, they love to go for walks
around our neighborhood and love even more to take rides in the car -
especially to grandma and grandpa's house! Each of them has staked out
their own spot in the bedroom at night. Other than a couple of escape
attempts they have been very well behaved. We would never have imagined the
difference Denali has made around our house. They constantly keep us in
stitches! At 3 and 2 years old, we have a long time to enjoy these
wonderful dogs, not to mention a long future of getting up to let them in or
out the back door when they knock - and yes, they know how to get your
attention. We couldn't have asked for a better dog or a better friend.
Thanks to the husky rescue for all their hard and dedicated work."
Mike and Darcy Kochevar, Kodiak and Denali
"We have adopted three huskies from Polaris Husky Rescue. We first adopted
Sitka in April of 2002. He had been very abused and was extremely skittish
around people. He was not real healthy and was pretty rough looking. He
was extremely sweet though, and soon recovered very well. He is now on
medicine for his eyes and is happy and healthy. We soon started to look
for a friend for Sitka, and after a little while, we found Tahti. She has
a princess personality and is extremely intelligent. We often times feel
like she knows exactly what we are saying. She loves to sleep in on the bed,
and be pampered. Klondike was an unexpected surprise. In June of 2002, we
received a call from Ingrid Simpson saying that she was picking up a 4 month
old puppy from a shelter in Wyoming. He was scheduled to be put to sleep
that day, so Ingrid took him, but had nowhere to put him. He was too small
to be at the rescue with the other dogs, and he had a problem with his
back legs, so he would have been difficult to place in a home. Ingrid asked
us if we could keep him for a few days until she could find a foster home
for him. That night, we decided to keep him, but we were very concerned
about his legs, because he could not walk or run very well. We were not sure
if he ever would, and we were afraid that he had hip problems. As the months
went by though, he got better and better. Now you would never know that he
ever had a problem with his legs. He has turned out to be a wonderful
addition to our family, and we are so grateful that we got that call and
ended up with Klondike. All three of them love to go on walks and go
absolutely nuts when we say the word "Walk." We love them very much and
are very glad we ended up being their family. Sincerely, Philip and Bridget
Dutton" Many thanks to Philip & Bridget for providing such a loving
home to these great pups and for continuing to help Sibes in need!
"After a long and hard search for just the right Siberian, I stumbled
across Polaris and Kacie. Kacie had been surrendered by a woman
who had recently moved to Colorado and could no longer keep her. When
Kacie and I met it was like long lost friends reunited. She loves to play
with everything and everyone, and can hardly contain herself on the ride
to the Dog Park. She loves to sleep on the bed right next to me, sometimes
on top of me!! We met when she was very young and now loves her new home
and all the love and attention that she gets from everyone. She is well
behaved and is working hard on all the commands that she is learning."

"Hey folks! I love my new home! My playmate is Kendra and she is a
wonderful companion to me. We play everyday. My new mom and dad let me sleep
in the house so I stay nice and warm. Sometimes I sneak up on their bed and
they move over for me. I go to dog parks, nice long walks and I have lots
of toys. I still have my giardia, but my new vet is working hard to help me
get rid of it. I am very gentle and will always be loved! Say hello to all
my rescue pals........."Love, Harley
"While shopping for toys for our 10-month old adopted puppy, Brihten, I
noticed a flyer that the store had posted for a little, female Husky mix
(she is believed to be a Husky/Border Collie mix, about 3 years old). She
needed a home and I figured Brihten would love a companion. Her sweet face
grabbed my attention and that afternoon, my husband and I met Ellis Bynum
and “Punkin” in Boulder. Punkin came home with us that day and
quickly became a loving family member and playmate for Brihten. With her
new home came a new name (Kaylen) and hopefully, many years of happiness
with a family that loves to take both dogs anywhere/everywhere we can.
Kaylen travels beautifully, gets along well with our 2-legged and 4-legged
friends and is the perfect foot-warmer when I’m working at home.
She’s well behaved, friendly and downright beautiful. She has a
wonderful way of “speaking” to us (the Husky in her)
that makes us laugh every time we hear her. Kaylen’s been a wonderful
addition to our menagerie of critters and we feel lucky to have her. Thanks
to Ellis and the Polaris Rescue for keeping Kaylen safe until she found us
and to PC’s Pantry for posting that flyer that ended up bringing us
so much love." Pam & Tom Nickoles
"I just wanted to drop a short note and let you both know the status of Ike.
He is doing exceptionally well, we haven't had an accident in the house yet.
It took him a little time to get his appetite back, as you had mentioned,
but he is eating regularly now. His ears look a little better as well,
after a bath and continuing the neosporan. He has a wonderful disposition
and doesn't seem stressed about his new home. In addition he did great
around other dogs and people on Sunday when I took him to a park in
Denver. I couldn't be happier with the adoption of Ike and thank everyone
involved at Polaris for the care and work you do and the dogs you save.
Please feel free to contact me anytime if you have questions. I will keep
you up to date on how he his doing with the transition to his new place.
I don't think I could have been any luckier with getting such a great pup."
"We have named Nora the Malamute...Keaton (or Keats for short). We have won
the lottery when it comes to adopting a dog. This beautiful and affectionate
animal has proven to be housebroken, semi-leash trained and rides well in
the car. Although her appetite has picked up in recent days, she is
not a beggar or a thief of food. Keaton's nails were trimmed, eliminating
any trace of a limp and the bath, frequent brushing and diet has transformed
her coat. She is now a show stopping attraction in Cheesman park during
her daily walks. In closing, we think the work you do to save, protect
and place these wonderful animals with the people who will cherish them
is beyond charitable. We thank you from our hearts for the warm change it
has made to our lives. Sincerely, Sharon & Neil"
After being surrendered by his original owner, Kane arrived at Polaris
desperate for a little attention & love. Beth & Max met Kane when
they contacted Polaris with the intention of bringing home a husky "just
to foster." However, the arrangement quickly changed from that of a
temporary foster into a permanent adoption when Beth & Max realized
that there was NO WAY they could give this dog up to someone else; he was
just too perfect a match for their family! Kane now lives in the mountains
with his adoptive husky brother, Tsai (who also happens to be his best
buddy), and his other Polaris foster friends, where he loves to go hiking
and trail running, and does his best to ensure the yard stays chipmunk-free.
Thank you to Beth & Max for adopting Kane and for continuing to help
foster dogs in need!
Meet Jodi and Ulu. Ulu was originally adopted out to a family in Idaho until
Polaris received a call that Ulu was not being cared for and that she was
underfeed and skinny. With the help of many we finally got Ulu back. Jodi
and her family adopted Ulu and as you can see she is now a healthy happy dog!
Thank you to all that helped us to get Ulu back and to Jodi and her family
for adopting and loving this pretty girl. Jodi now volunteers at Polaris and
is helping to find other deserving dogs just like Ulu loving and forever homes!
After spending a year at the rescue Rappel was adopted by Sharon. He is so
happy in his new home where he is getting the spoiled attention and love that
he deserves. Rappel now has a big back yard and he stays very active with
Sharon. Sharon takes Rappel with her every chance she gets whether it is
camping, hiking, or just to a relatives house for the holidays. Basically
Sharon spoils Rappel every chance she gets. Rappel is pictured here laying
on his favorite fluffy pink pillow. Thanks to Sharon for adopting this
sweet boy!
