Meet Blacky.
His story:
The survivor.
This guy deserves to live just due to his love of life. He just does not get that he should not be happy because of all his problems. If only people were more like dogs I say! He has definite likes and dislikes, he just LOVES puppy milkbone biscuits and he really hates shots and poking (who wouldn't).
A little about Blacky, he is a 10 year old male poodle, very bad cataracts in one eye and lowered vision in the
other. He has a collapsed traccheal ring which causes him to huff
at
times. He has just been diagnosed with diabetes insepides and we're
putting
him on a course of medication to see if it will help. He is in general bad health but all this doesn't matter to him, he is taking it on the chin. I think 'HE WILL SURVIVE'.
To top off the overall poor care this guy has had during his life, he was hit by a car in Miami and broke both the ulna and radius in his
right
front leg.
This little boy's
medical bills are enormous because of the orthopedic surgery required
to set
the bones in his leg and the various testing and general medical treatments (one thing at a time) he needs. Most things will get better with time and proper food/nutrition, care.
Inspite of all this, this is a game little dog. He follows me everywhere (I'm his foster mom so I don't mind) and he hobbles around to find his food and water. UPDATE:July 16,2007, he had his cast removed but the leg may not 'make it', he goes back in a week for a check-up.

Meet Megan.
Her story:
A chance for such a young dog?
Megan is a tiny one-year old toy poodle who was abandoned at Animal Control. She only weighs 4.5 lbs! Megan has a very severe subluxation of the kneecaps which means her knees are out of joint and causes her to walk with a very unusual gait. Her back legs bow out similar to a gorilla's legs. This condition does cause some pain and will likely cause her to have debilitating arthritis later in life. The vet said this is one of the most severe cases he has ever seen. He believes with surgery, she has a very good chance of having a normal gait and having a normal and healthy life.
Megan is a stoic little lady with a true joy for life; she tries not to show her discomfort. She is always quick to give and receive affection. She loves to play with her foster sisters and with toys especially her green froggy! Megan also loves to be petted and is happiest snuggling in your lap for long periods of time.
We really need donations so we can have this needed surgery done. Megan is just a young thing and deserves a chance for a full and pain-free life. Won't you please help Megan?? You can make a donation via Paypal or you can send a check to Coastal Poodle Rescue; in the notes section of the check just print "Megan/surgery."
If you want to help us with funding, please donate at PayPal. Thanks!
UPDATE: April 2008, Megan was adopted after some time in foster care, she is doing great!
