Our Featured Pet...

CJ is just a cool guy! He has an outgoing and friendly personality, and gets along well with other dogs. We think that his dad may be the American Bulldog shown in the 2nd picture. CJ has remarkable similarities in both personality and appearance to his "dad", Cash. CJ's littermates also need forever homes quickly!!! Check Out: Sachi, Firefly, Honey, Stripe, and Taiko. Hounds/Hound mixes deserve loving homes too! Help us place these loving pets!!

News

The HSEC has now adopted out over 120 animals!! Thanks so much for helping us to reach this milestone!

In case you can't adopt a pet permanently, we love for people to volunteer by fostering a pet in their own home. Please just contact us, and we'll be happy to talk with you about this rewarding experience. In addition, you can now sponsor a pet for a small donation each month. Your gift will be recognized on our website, and you'll receive a personalized thank you from your sponsored pet. If you are interested in participating in this program, please email us at: humanesocietyofevanscounty@yahoo.com.

If you are looking for other ways to help, we love volunteers!! Whether you're computer savy, an animal trainer, or anything in between, chances are that we can put you to work! Please contact us for more information. Even if volunteering isn't your thing, you can still help. Donations of food, bowls, toys, leashes, collars, dog crates, dog houses, dog pens, and any other pet item imaginable are always appreciated.

We have also just kicked off our Capital Campaign in an effort to raise $80,000 to build our own shelter. Please contact us to make donations to this worthy cause. If you can't support us financially, we need donations of building supplies, land, fence materials, washing machines, dryers, computers, and anything else that would make our shelter functional and welcoming. Please contact us today with any questions about donations at hsecadoptions@yahoo.com

Who We Are

The Humane Society of Evans County, Ga, Inc. is a network of foster homes located in Claxton, GA. This rescue effort was started in February 2003 in order to combat the terrible overpopulation problem in our community. We have a real desire to help unwanted animals since we don't have animal control or an animal shelter. Our success is dependent on your support. Thanks so much for caring!

Take a Closer Look at Our Large Black Dogs that Deserve a Chance...

Fritz

Fritz, a Doberman mix, was born in January 2004 and has been in our care since birth. He is extremely sweet and eager to please, and he loves nothing more than a good belly rub. He needs an active family and would love to have the companionship of another active dog.

Jetta

Jetta, a Black Lab/German Shepherd Mix, was found shivering in the rain as a puppy. Although she can be shy at first, Jetta warms up pretty quickly and will definitely steal your heart. She is great with children and would be the perfect addition to any family. She has been waiting for a home since October of 2003.

Josh

Josh is a Labrador Retriever mix that never got as big as we expected! He only weighs 40 pounds, but still possesses the energy and love for the outdoors of a full-sized Labrador. He is very gentle and great with young children. He loves playing with his little buddy, Tigger (another of our rescues) and allows his short-legged pal to hold onto his tail as he runs. They are the best of friends. Josh came to us in January of 2004 with his brothers and sisters and is the only one that hasn't found a permanent home.

Please take a look at some of our other rescues who have been patiently waiting for their chance to be adopted:

*Dottie, a German Shorthair Pointer/Labrador Mix Rescued in November 2003
*Happy, a tri-colored Treeing Walker Hound, Rescued in January 2004
*Chase, a Boxer/Shepherd Mix, Rescued in April 2004
