Surrendering Pets

If you have been looking for a new home for your pet and have been unsuccessful, then surrendering your pet to the Highland Animal Shelter may be an option. We currently do not have an opening for Surrenders and the waiting list can be up to 1 year (depending on size of the animal, if the animals get along with other animals, cage space...etc). The document below contains all of the necessary information about surrendering your pet. There is no fee for applying. The Surrender Committee meets once a month - so it may take up to 30 days before you receive a response from us. We keep Surrender Forms for 1 year. Because of the volume of Surrender Applications we receive and the low probability of your pet being accepted for surrender, we recommend that you use other means in your search to find a home for your pet. Talking with friends, family, and coworkers, placing an ad, and posting flyers are good ways to let people know you're looking for a new home for your pet. We wish you luck in your search and you may contact us for more tips on finding a good home.
