Pet Foster Volunteers NeededThe Belleville Area Humane Society is looking for foster homes and volunteers to help with dogs, puppies, cats & kittens. When we run out of space or have animals with special needs, we rely on foster volunteers for help. Foster volunteers help us with hundreds of animals every year, increasing our ability to save lives and keep animals healthy. Foster homes give us the flexibility to care for animals with all sorts of needs, ranging from kittens that need bottle-feeding several times a day to dogs who have difficulty adapting to the shelter environment. Sometimes a pet needs a quiet place to recover from surgery, and sometimes a cat or dog needs extra socialization. Fostering a pet is a wonderful and fulfilling role for anyone. Whether you’d like a little more company in your home or have a family ready to share the love, we need your help. Foster placements can last for various lengths of time ranging from a few days to several weeks. As a family activity, fostering helps teach responsibility, patience, communication, leadership, kindness, perseverance and goal setting. For the individual or a couple, experiencing the extra love of an animal is its own reward. If you are interested in fostering, please contact the shelter at bahsmail@sbcglobal.net or call (618)235-3712 The new "BAHS Stories" page is now online! We have a lot of things to tell you! One of the ways we can keep you informed is to put up the stories people send us. Like the story of Milo. An amazing true story of lost and found. Click here for stories about Milo, Max, Hope, Kingy, Babbs, Portia, Tabitha, Maddie and Rose. BAHS has so many stories of animals that are both in the shelter, and those lucky enough to find a home and show off their stuff. It is with great pleasure that we offer emails and letters from adopters, and impressions of current residents by the staff that take care of them.We are working on transcribing many more notes from owners and shelter personnel for your enjoyment. |
| For your information: | BAHS will microchip your dogs and cats for a fee of $25.00. Give them the best defense of finding you again if they should get loose, have them chipped! Milo is sure glad he had one! |
Surrendering a pet or stray...BAHS is an Adoption Center and cannot accept stray animals. We do take owner turn-ins. Please call first for available kennel space. If you need to report or turn in a stray animal or if you suspect abuse you must contact St. Clair County Animal Control at 618-235-0585. |
