Foster Care
A foster family provides temporary care and training while a permanent
home is found. We utilize our fosters for orphaned puppies and kittens,
nursing mothers, injured animals, pregnant animals, sick animals and
animals that need a little extra TLC.
A foster family will be in charge of the animal's daily routine.
Animals respond to a schedule, so we ask that you try and keep the
situation and timings consistent, so please talk with your family members
and have a plan to care for any animals before filling out our foster
application.
HELP the Animals will provide the food, bowls, bedding, and a crate
if needed. Many animals will need house training, leash training and
basic manners.
You are required to notify HELP the Animals immediately if the animal
becomes ill or is in need of medical attention. All veterinary needs
will be taken care of by HELP the Animals. Any medication that is
required will be taken care of through HELP the Animals.
The length of the foster animal's stay will be determined on a
case-by-case basis. Orphaned animals, nursing mothers and pregnant
animals generally stay in foster until the babies are at least eight
weeks old. Sick or injured animals could take up to several months
until they are ready for adoption.
If you decide that you would like to adopt an animal that you are
fostering, you will need to fill out an adoption application and pay the
adoption fee.
Fostering animals and giving them either the health or behavior that
they need to find an adoptive family is one of the most touching things
that a person can do. Caring for these animals touches the heart in a
way you never imagined.
