About Our Adoption Fees
Happy Tales is a small, volunteer based rescue, dedicated to re-homing
pets that have been abandoned by their owners or come from a breeding background. Most come directly from Owner surrenders, getting our name from the local shelters.
Some of our pets are kept in our foster homes where we are able to learn their likes and dislikes, their good and ...not so good behaviors. It also allows us to re-train the unfavorable behaviors, and to encourage the better ones! Our adoption fees typically vary from $.00 - $450.00 depending on the pet.
We provide spay and neutering for all age appropriate dogs. Each dog is current on vaccinations, flea preventive, and on Heartworm preventive. Adoption fees are to assist us with their transports, sterilizations, vaccinations, medications, tests, grooming, food, toys, doggy blankies, general care, time spent, etc! Please keep in mind when adopting, that we operate our rescue group solely from the adoption fees. We receive absolutely no funding from anyone. (Unless we are lucky to get an offer of a spay/neuter donation fee, or Heartworm prevention medication, etc. which we'd be immensely grateful for!)
There are many hidden expenses prior to offering a pet for adoption...adoption processing (phone calls, phone calls and phone calls... and various office items, e-mails; Time!) and general daily care (food, treats, toys, bathing items, blankets, etc) -and for replacements of whatever a foster may "accidentally" have destroyed during its stay! (i.e. pup and/or new nervous dog!) We are running our rescue group as a hobby, so we certainly do not make any profit! Rather it can become quite costly at times.
If you'd like to sponsor a spay or neuter, please ask for our vet's phone number where you can pay directly to our rescue vet account!
