Beta Sigma Phi Dedicates a Memorial Gift In Honor of Ruth Hill

The local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi donated a storage bench for our adoption suite in memory of the late Ruth Hill, a longtime sorority member and one of the founding volunteers of the Hancock County Humane Society. The memorial gift was presented and dedicated in September 2011. Pictured from left to right are HCHS volunteer Stephanie Broere, Beta Sigma Phi president Shorn Gober, HCHS president Melinda Wright, and HCHS board member Pat Wolfla. They hold photos of Ruth Hill and Elvis, a very special shelter rescue who now has a forever home. Thanks to Beta Sigma Phi for their generosity, and for helping us honor a special volunteer!

Hancock County Community Foundation Awards Core Operating Support Grant

HCCF Grant

Hancock County Community Foundation recently awarded a $1,600 Core Operating Support grant to the Hancock County Humane Society.  This grant has been used to replace the can crusher at our facility.  Funds generated from the recycling of donated aluminum cans help to cover nearly 10 percent of our organization’s annual operating budget. The Core Operating Support grant is generated from the Hancock County Enrichment Fund, one of HCCF’s eight Spirit of Community Funds. We thank the HCCF for its generosity!
