    Committees

    Public Relations

The Public Relations Committee writes, edits, and distributes press releases, feature stories, and various promotional projects. They coordinate an events calendar of possible venues to advertise the society. They coordinate the creation of a newsletter to update members of PCHS news and events. The committee maintains records of events that the organization has sponsored or participated in by taking pictures and/or keeping a PCHS scrapbook/photo album.

    Fundraising

The Fundraising Committee sets the schedule of fundraising events for the year.  They coordinate these activities with other committees as needed, such as the PR committee for the news coverage, etc.

    Adoption and Foster Care

The Foster and Adoption Committee monitors the dogs coming into the pound, take photos and advertise them in area newspapers. They help locate the owner and if none is found they initiate a plan for the dog after his ten days are up. This may be with a PCHS foster home, rescue or a no kill shelter. They keep a current list of all foster dogs and foster homes. They complete all necessary forms, do inspections as needed and follow up with foster homes. They organize adoption days and screen potential adopters. They make sure all the paperwork required by the State is kept on hand for inspections.

    Membership

The Membership Committee is responsible for keeping a log of current members along with their contact information.  They send out Welcome Packets to new members and they plan membership drives and activities to recruit new members. This includes placing PCHS information flyers in places of business in Wamego and surrounding towns in Pottawatomie County.  This committee is also the Nominating Committee for the annual election.

    Education

The purpose of the Education committee is to educate Pottawatomie County Residents about the PCHS. The committee is responsible to educate the public about proper pet care as well as the need to spay or neuter pets, and reduce the number of unwanted pets.

    Animal Welfare

This committee seeks opportunities to improve the welfare of all animals in Pottawatomie County by investigating and taking appropriate action on complaints received concerning the welfare of an animal in our jurisdiction, in accordance with the laws of the community, Pottawatomie County, and the state of Kansas. This committee also promotes spay-neuter programs and trap-spay-neuter-return programs.

You may join any committee at any time.
