Ways to Volunteer

Walk a dog at the shelter!

It is good for your health and also good for the dog's socialization and well-being. Currently we are walking the dogs daily at 8:30 am and at 4:00 pm. Summer hours are later. A schedule is sent out weekly by email. Please contact Susan Clasen, Shelter Volunteer Coordinator, at 785-313-3194 for more information.

Be a Foster Home!

Foster homes are a temporary home for the dogs until they are adopted. The main requirement for a foster home is love and patience with the sweet dogs who need it so much. PCHS pays for all vet care, food and suplies. You have your choice of the dog you would like to foster. If you would like more information about being a Foster Home, please call Julie Appino, Foster/Adoption Chairperson, at 785-317-5545.

Help with an Adoption Day!

We always need volunteers to help with our bi-weekly adoption days. These events are usually held on the first Saturday of the month at the Manhattan Aquarium Company in Manhattan and on the third Saturday of the month in Wamego. We need volunteers to help transport and supervise the dogs at the Adoption Days. For more information, please contact Jodi Whittier, Adoption Event Coordinator, at 785-313-3752 or 785-765-3490.

Volunteer for a Fundraising Event!

Our fundraising Committee is always in need of crafty people who can make items to sell at fundraisers, make donation jars, help with manning tables at events, and offer new ideas on how to raise money for PCHS. Fore more information, please contact Susna, Clasen, Fundraising Committe Chairperson, at 785-313-3194.

Help spread the word!

We are currently in need of a Public Relations Chairperson to help distribute tri-folds in the community, advertise events, and assist with the newsletter. For more information, please contact Tina Zimmerman, Membership Chairperson, at 785-456-9724.
