My Morning Commute

Bob's Morning Commute

Jack’s Place Animal Rescue was founded in 2003 by Bob and Chris Thorowgood. Bob and Chris moved to Kentucky in 2003 after retiring from the Smithsonian and the Justice Department in Washington D.C.

Shortly after they moved, Bob’s uncle, Jack Dukes, passed away and left Bob a small inheritance. Bob and Chris were looking for an opportunity to give back to the community and decided to start an animal rescue in honor of Jack, a man who loved all animals. Bob & Chris Thorowgood

Since the beginning of Jack’s Place, Bob and Chris have helped find homes for over 500 dogs and cats. They have rescued animals from abusive homes and nurtured severely ill animals back to health. They take pride in matching animals with the perfect forever home.

When they have spare time Bob and Chris can usually be found visiting one of their three children, Beth, Decker, or Sarah. They also have three grandchildren, Christopher, Carter, and Trevor, and 2 step-grandchildren, Lara and Finley,  whom they love to spoil.

The finances Jack left his nephew have long run out, but his legacy still stands as a true animal lover through the hearts of Bob and Chris. They continue to help all animals in need using their own money as well as through the generosity of sponsors and friends of Jack’s Place Animal Rescue.
