If a pet in our list touches your heart but you can't adopt right
now, you may be thinking about sending some money so that we can
"pull" the pet from the pound and save his life
While we are extremely thankful for any donation, the problem is that
we would not know where to put the pet: We only have 2 or 3 foster
homes and boarding facilities usually require the pet to have been
vaccinated and isolated for several days before being accepted.
The solution:
Become that pet's Guardian Angel and make a donation which we will give to any legitimate rescue group who offers to take the pet (minus any minimal costs we may incur).
How does that work?
We are constantly in touch with fellow rescue groups and individual rescuers and we let them know when money has been donated towards a pet as an incentive to rescue that pet. Rescue groups are always limited in what they can accomplish, often because of a lack of money. Sponsorship is a great way to help them rescue and place pets. We will of course let you know which group received the pet and that group can inform you of your sponsored pet's progress.

What if the pet dies in between?
Sadly this can happen. The pets at the pound have often been found as strays and usually had no previous vet care. Puppies are very wormy and adults have heartworms. They can also contract distemper, parvo, or other terrible diseases from other unfortunate animals also in the pound. If the pet you wanted to help dies, we will assign your donation to another pet who will benefit from your kindness, and we will let you know. There are so many pets in danger!
What will happen if no group shows any interest?
You may want to increase your donation to make it more appealing or have some of your friends donate too. Or maybe even reconsider the possibility of adopting the pet yourself. But do NOT wait!!!! Every pet at the pound is on death row.
We do the best we can to save as many as possible but we are not in charge of the pound and pets are placed in the gas chamber after four days, in compliance with the decision of the Vermilion Parish Police Jury. We do what we can and all we can but this is beyond our control. If this very sad situation occurs, we will assign your donation to another pet who will benefit from your kindness, and we will let you know. There are so many pets on death row and their status can change daily and even hourly!
Can you pledge money and make the donation directly to the rescue group who takes the pet?
Unfortunately situations have occurred in the past where money was pledged to help a pet but was never donated. This puts both our organization and the rescue group who takes the pet in a very uncomfortable position. It also undermines our credibility for other sponsored pets. If you would like to be a Guardian Angel please make sure we do receive an actual donation ASAP - PayPal being the fastest way - and we will transfer it to the rescue group who takes the pet (minus any minimal costs we may incur).

No, we are sorry, we will assign your donation to another pet who will benefit from your kindness, and we will let you know. There are so many pets in danger!
