Welcome!

The Humane Society of LA - Acadia parish - investigates cruelty cases in any parish that requests our help. I am the only member of this chapter located in Acadia parish and I stay busy with cruelty calls.

Once an animal is rescued from a cruelty situation, we provide the care the animal needs and, if appropriate, we try to place this very special pet in a loving home.

We also trap wild cats and have them spayed or neutered. We will then tip the ears of these cats so we will know which ones have been altered. We will then release them back into the wild where they cannot reproduce. This is the only way that we can ever get the wild pet overpopulation problem under control.

Adopting a Friend

Click here to see our adoptable pets list.

Every animal that is rescued is looking for a second chance to find the love and companionship of a wonderful home and owner. Please let me help you find that friend. We like to see an adoptive family visit a few times and also take the pet they choose for a sleep over to see how things work out. To set up arrangements to visit call Janet @ 337-654-4392.

You Can Help!

I am asking the public for assistance at this time with a trap, alter and release program. This program will allow us to reduce the feral cat population by having them spayed/neutered, thus preventing the cats from reproducing.

I am asking the public to sponsor a cat for a $25 donation to assist with the cost. I am not state or federally funded and rely solely on the donations from the community. I am trying to raise $1500.

To help in this important project I am asking you to please assist me by donating today.

Traps are also needed on a loaner basis and we will be responsible for replacing any missing traps.

Volunteers are needed to help transport these cats to the vet. I have been feeding these feral colonies and the number of feral cats in distress is almost unbelievable.

I am in need of volunteers for fundraising efforts.

I am also looking for someone who would be interested in assisting with our petfinder website.

Donations

To assist with our work and help save more needy animals, your donation, no matter how small, is always welcomed and much appreciated.
