Hello, I'm Cooper; I look a little bit like a St. Bernard, don't I? I'm not, I just have similar markings; I'm actually just a cute 45lb Spaniel mix. I have very soft fur, the ladies say I feel like a bunny. I really love to snuggle; if you kneel down near me, I'll climb-up into your lap and lick your face all day! Nothing seems to bother me, I get along with everyone and everything. I think I am the dog you've been looking for, so hurry-up and come take me home!

The Royal Oak Animal Shelter is operated as a City service under management of the Royal Oak Police Department.

Our goals are to:

Provide a safe haven for stray animals found within the City limits of Royal Oak or animals given up by Royal Oak residents
Reunite lost animals with their human companions
Place animals into the home best suited to their personalities and needs.

Volunteers who can work between 3pm - 7pm weekdays and 9am - 12pm weekends are always needed. We currently are in need of volunteers who are willing to help clean cages. Interested persons must be at least 18 years of age, or older. Volunteer applications are available at the Shelter, the Royal Oak Police station, or on the City of Royal Oak website. All applications must be approved by the Royal Oak Police Department and take about 2 weeks to process.

Ewe-nique Knits - You guys rock! Thank you so much for thinking of us and taking the time to knit so many wonderful 'Take Me Home' blankets for all of our kitties. Our cats really enjoy laying on them - they give you two paws up as well!
A HUGE THANK YOU to Jason from Boy Scout Troop 1629. Jason selected us for his Eagle Scout Project and assembled a small army of friends to worked on our landscaping. Our exterior looks great and we would like to congratulate Jason on his hard work and his Eagle Scout achievement!!
