ADOPTING A FRIEND

The procedure for adoption is as follows:

If you are approved, we will arrange for a home visit, this may be done by a volunteer from a different rescue organization.

Finally (if approved) you are welcomed out to visit with the dog/puppy you are interested in.

During your visit with the dog/puppy we will discuss behaviors/personality of the pet noticed while in our care and what the dog appears to know or not know, and any training that the dog may have had in the past. We will also provide a run down of the health record and when he or she will need to next visit the vet. There is a required adoption agreement (which can be viewed prior to the visit by contacting us) and a pre-determined adoption fee.

Fees vary based on the care/cost of a specific dog. Most adoption fees are between $100 and $300, depending on the age and the medical care cost of a particular dog.

Typically males are $150, and females are $200. If a different adoption fee is listed on their bio it's because the dog required some special care.

**NOTE ON ADOPTION FEES: Adoption fees must be paid thru PayPal, Credit Card, Money Order or Cash. NO CHECKS ACCEPTED!...because of a few, this option has had to be revoked. Sorry!

Bellowood is a small 501c3, MDA registered non-profit animal protection shelter located in Cedar Springs, Michigan. We strive to match up the right dog/puppy with the right family, and to help the new families with a smooth transition. BELLOWOOD IN THE COMMUNITY

Need help keeping your pet?  Bellowood offers some different services that can help you in difficult situations:

Low income assistance - If you just need a little temporary assistance in keeping your pet, ask us how we might be able to help.
Youth Group Programs - For kids of all ages! Kids (or anyone in the program) can come and spend some time with us, visit with us and learn about the dogs, do a little work in the kennel, walk a dog or play in the yard and then come inside for a fun pet friendly craft project!
Military got your number? - Your pet has to be left behind with nowhere to go, and you don't want to lose him.  Ask us how we can help you keep up with your loyal friend and take ownership again when you return.
