Our Foster Program

Fostering is a very rewarding experience. Without foster families we couldn't provide the service we do for the homeless cocker spaniels who need us. There is nothing more amazing than to see broken spirited cockers come to life. It is such a wonderful experience to see a dog flourish from a scared and timid cocker to confident and happy or from sick and frail to strong and healthy. When you witness this amazing transformation first hand you will never forget the experience.

Foster parents are an essential resource for animal rescue for two reasons. First, since we do not have a kennel facility fosters allow us to help more cockers that would otherwise have to be turned away due to lack of space. Second, fostering allows the dogs more one on one human interaction which is helpful for dogs in need of training. This makes the dogs more appealing to potential adopters.

As a foster family you will have a huge impact on the placement of the rescue animals because you will get to know them so well. You will be able to provide essential information to help us ensure that the dogs are placed in homes that well suited to them. Letting go sometimes is the hardest part but is also a joyful time too. Not only does that open the door for the next rescue animal in need but also you will know that you made a difference for a cocker in need.

The foster process can last from a few short weeks to several months for some of our rescue kids. Our rescue covers all vet bills, grooming costs, and even food expenses. All we ask you to do is provide a loving, nurturing home to help mend these little ones' spirits. If you think you have what it takes to Foster a cocker spaniel please send an email request for the foster volunteer form at LarryDonnaCarp@aol.com.

Become a Volunteer

Volunteers are the lifeline of every rescue group. We could not continue helping the animals without our volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer there are a number of ways that you can help.

Fund raising is one area where volunteers are always needed. We are looking for innovative, conscientious people who are interested in contributing their time or services to assist in fund raiser ideas and organization. This could be anything from yard sales to raffles to just making and donating some sort of craft item to sell.

Maybe you are sure you have no fund raising or craft skills at all. That does not leave you out. You might be a great communicator and could assist with public relations, designing and/or writing monthly newsletters, etc.

None of these things sound like you? You say you are not a people person but dogs love and respond to you? Great! We also need volunteers who are willing to walk dogs or take them to the park and interact with them on Saturdays, assist with bathing and grooming, transport dogs to adoption shows and assist with the transport of dogs coming to us from other areas.

So you see there are lots of ways that you can help us help the Cocker Spaniels. If you would like to become a volunteer please email us at larrydonnacarp@aol.com.
