ABOUT CAROLS
CATS
Who We
Are
Carols Cats is a
Hillsborough, NJ-based organization that evolved out of one woman's
desire to improve conditions for
feral cats
. An all-volunteer organization
incorporated as a nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation in 2002, Carols Cats
functions as a resource for the control and management of feral cat
colonies by:
-
employing trap-neuter-release ("TNR") to
stabilize and manage feral cat colonies in our area,
-
rescuing
and socializing feral kittens and adopting them into responsible
homes,
-
providing
advice and support to individuals with feral cat problems, and
-
What We Do
Provide Assistance With Feral
Cats
A large part of our efforts go to actively
caring for local colonies of feral cats, as well as providing
logistical support, guidance, and instruction to area residents who
have feral cat problems in their neighborhoods. Level of assistance is
determined on a case-by-case basis; financial assistance can only be
provided as our budget allows.
A minimum donation may be required to offset veterinary
expenses.
Assistance ranges from providing on-going
instruction and advice for implementation of a TNR
(trap-neuter-release) program to arranging spay/neuter appointments
and transporting cats to and from our veterinarian. Carols Cats also lends
humane traps; a deposit is required, and borrowers must sign an
agreement specifying terms of lending.
Carols Cats does not provide trapping
services and does not pick up trapped
cats.
Find Homes for Adoptable
Kittens
An offshoot of our work with feral cats is
the rescue and placement of adoptable kittens born to stray or feral
cats. Kittens who are
deemed adoptable are placed in Carols Cats foster homes, where they
are socialized and where their temperaments can be assessed. Prior to adoption, they are
spayed/neutered and receive initial (age-appropriate) inoculations,
as well as additional medical care if the condition of the animal so
warrants. Our foster care system enables us to monitor each animal's
health and advise potential adopters about a kitten's or cat's
personality so that a happy match can be made between the animal and
its new family.
Please note that our organization can
accommodate only a limited number of kittens.
Carols Cats
cannot accept the following:
-
Pets whose owners
can no longer keep them or no longer want
them.
-
Unwanted
kittens born to pet cats.*
-
Sick cats or

IS NOT EQUIPPED TO PROVIDE NONROUTINE MEDICAL CARE. ANIMALS WHO ARE ILL SHOULD
BE TAKEN DIRECTLY TO A VETERINARIAN.
