Marcus' Tale

After losing our sweet cat, Cliff, to cancer in March 2012, we weren't ready for another cat. Our two remaining cats, Luna and Titus, gave us comfort when we desperately needed it.

Then in 2013, we decided it was time to add another fur-baby to our family, so we began looking for a new brother for Luna and Titus on That's when we came across Marcus and S.T.A.R.T. II. Just after Christmas, we went to the Petsmart in Wayne to meet him. When we saw him sitting with his head down staring at his bed, we knew it was love at first sight. We went in the cattery and got permission to meet him and pick him up. When I did, he licked me and it was all over. I was in love! My husband fell for him too, but we found out he was a little aggressive towards males when he was in his foster home! So we had to pass. We didn't want to stress our two cats at home.

However, over the next week we couldn't stop thinking about Marcus. We spoke to the folks at S.T.A.R.T. II and they said he hadn't shown any aggression since he was out of his foster home. We went back a week later and brought Marcus home and give it a try.

He had his own room to start off, but his brother Titus was eager to meet him. After a couple days, they met to mixed reviews. They have their good days and bad (as all brothers do), but gladly their good days outnumber their bad!

His new sister Luna is a little less tolerant, but anyone who knows Luna knows that she doesn't tolerate anyone except her momma (me) and sometimes Daddy (my husband). But that doesn't stop Marcus from trying to play "TA-DAAAA!" as he jumps out from under the bed to play. Maybe someday Luna will reciprocate!

We can't thank S.T.A.R.T. II enough - especially Diane, who was at the Petsmart in Wayne - for helping us find our Marcus! He definitely has PURRRR-SONALITY! Marcus is a riot and there's NEVER a dull moment when he's around! He's either running laps at TOP SPEED around our home, playing "TA-DAAAA" as he jumps out from behind something at whomever (human or cat) that walks by or playing with his infinite amount of toys! He's always going!

Even though he had a rough start in life (that left him with a scratched cornea, which the folks at S.T.A.R.T. II helped heal), he's still the absolute sweetest little boy! We can't imagine life without our ruckus-maker, Marcus! Especially when all five of us are watching TV snuggling on the sofa together - yes, even Luna is starting to come around to Marcus!
