2007
- The Justice Fund has been created in the memory of a deceased adult
male German Shepherd found along the shoulder of the road in Fairfield
Township, Cumberland County. "Justice," as the CCSPCA has named
the dog, had his muzzle duct taped shut and front paws duct taped
together. The dog's abdomen was slashed, exposing internal
organs."The public outcry that resulted from television and print news about this dog is extraordinary," said CCSPCA Executive Director Bev Greco. "The members of the community wanted to make sure that the dog was taken care of, so the money being donated will be directed first to cremating the dogs remains. A memorial brick in the SPCA's Memory Lane will also be purchased and placed into the walkway during a memorial service that the public will be invited to attend." "We are hoping that someone will come forward with information that will assist in the investigation, arrest and prosecution of the individual(s) responsible for doing such horrible things to this dog," said Greco. "We have this fund set up to offer a cash reward to anyone who gives us information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. Remaining funds will be used to offer rewards in future cases where the CCSPCA needs the public to reveal information to prosecute individuals responsible for acts of animal cruelty. The goal is to make sure every animal has the justice they deserve. Donations can be made in person at the Cumberland County SPCA, mailed to the shelter to the attention of the JUSTICE FUND, credit card by phone, or made online by credit card by clicking the icon below.
