Happy Tails!!

Here are just a few of the wonderful dogs we have had the pleasure of knowing at GSRODCNY.

"Ashley"

A note from Ashley's new family:

Thank you so much for bringing Ashley into our lives. When we were looking for a dog to adopt we consulted with a number of rescue organizations and  yours stood out as being very easy to deal with and open and forthright about the needs of a rescue dog. We could have adopted a different kind of dog but I have loved GSD's since I was a kid. We could have gone to a shelter and picked up a GSD there but the shelters seem so overwhelmed that it is difficult for them to spend any time discussing the details of each dog. Working with you has made it seem like Ashley came with an instruction manual.

Ashley is a wonderful addition to our family. The cats feel a little displaced but slowly they are getting accustomed to the dog and vice versa.  Ashley gets to walk at least 2-3 miles each day and sometimes gets to go jogging with my wife for 3-4 miles every few days. She is a delight to walk. She rarely tugs on the leash and then only when she is getting close to home. Everyone compliments her on her looks because of her eyes and light coloring. Today I walked to the library to return a book and the librarian allowed Ashley to come in. The librarian thought Ashley was even better behaved than the Seeing Eye Dog-in training that came in before.

Ashley follows me around the house and sometimes will refuse to eat unless I am with her. Talk about devotion. She is wonderful with the kids as well. She was a perfect angel this past week. If you can imagine four kids and visiting relatives at Christmas time, it was the essence of chaos in our house. Thank you so much for doing such good work with her and working with us to help her adjust to her forever home.

Sincerely,

Coulter, Laurie, Corbin, Alexis, Erin, and Cameron.

"Raezor"

Raezor has been adopted to Frank, in a fabulous home in Massachusetts.  Raezor was a very sick little puppy when he first arrived to our rescue group.  We hear regular updates from Frank and are happy to report all is going well.  A special Thank You to Frank for his donations to our group, his amazing generosity has helped us care for many rescue dogs this year!

"Zeek"

Zeek is the black GSD and was adopted to a great family in VT.  You can see Zeek is enjoying his new pack!

"Valentina"

Valentina was found wandering the streets of NJ, lonely and hungry.  Some kind office workers took her in and tried very hard to find her 'owner' - they began to realize that no one was looking for little Valentina.  She was brought to our rescue group on Valentines Day in 2006, and shortly after adopted into one of the GSRODC foster homes where she now lives very comfortably with her dear friend 'Turbo'.

"Jago"

The picture above to the left is Jago just before he came to our rescue group, to the right is an updated picture sent to us in December 2006.  Wow! Doesn't Jago look absolutely wonderful!?!!?!  Below is an update we received from his forever home:

Dear Bernadette,

I can not explain how much I love this boy. I adopted him from your group 3 years ago. You forgot to mention that he is a huge baby. This 90 pound Shepard still thinks he is a puppy. He is still afraid of big dogs but he is so gentle with little dogs and loves to play. When there is a thunder storm, I can't tell if I am protecting him or he is protecting me. As a true Shepard, he will follow me from room to room. Jay is a geek when it comes to treats. All I have to do is say ' bone, bone ' and he will stand, sit, speak, plats and offer to get the the treat himself if that is faster.

I can not thank you enough for bringing us together, he is so handsome and I tell him that everyday. He is my Bubby. I promise Bernadette, I will continue to love him and care for him for as long as God gives us.

Happy Holidays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
