Minnie has been phenomenal and has already had a great transition into our home. She has provided Jeter with a new best friend (As seen by the Pictures). Brooke & Lynn Have Been Adopted!!! Cats: Domestic Short Hair Gray & White Size: Medium Age: Adult Sex: Female After being in our care for a year Brooke (L) and Lynn (R) have been adopted by a wonderful family. Our volunteer "cat ladies" are ecstatic!! UPDATE ON BROOKE & LYNNE FROM THEIR NEW FAMILY:  We are all doing well. "The Girls" are newly named Lucy (Lynn) and Susan (Brooke) characters from my girls favorite book The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. They truly are such loves. After an evening of sniffling around the house from top to bottom, both cats decided that our house was a fine place to be and slept in our beds the first night. They sit on our laps, even the children's, while we read or watch T.V. and are always looking to be where the people are. They love to play and Lucy (Lynn) drags her toys up and down the stairs meowing to get the games going. We are all very happy. I will try to send some pictures over the next few days. Rocky Has Been Adopted!!! Dog: Beagle / English Bulldog Size: Medium Age: Young Sex: Male We've all heard the expressions "things happen for a reason"and "timing is everything" In this "happy tail" both of those apply. During the weekend of August 3, 2012, Jeff and Lana Feldman from Boca Raton Florida were staying at the Staten Island home of P.L.U.T.O. Rescue volunteers, Marcia & Brad Shey for an annual Cousins Reunion. During that time an adorable 8 month old Beagle/English bulldog mix named Rocky was surrendered to P.L.U.T.O. by his owners because they could no longer care for him. P.L.U.T.O. President and Founder Lisa Rooney e-mailed Rocky's photo to Brad Shey for inclusion on the Petfinder website. Brad just happened to show the photo to Jeff and Lana....it was love at first sight!!! They absolutely had to adopt Rocky but there was one small problem..their return flight to Florida was leaving in a few hours. Fortunately there was time for a quick meet and greet with Rocky at the Staten Island Vet Group on the way to the airport but soon it was time to say goodbye. Our mission was to find the best mode of transport available to send Rocky to his new "furever" home in Florida. After some extensive research, United Airlines Pet Safe Program was chosen and Rocky's journey to the Sunshine State began. The The Shey's purchased a pet carrier, made sure Rocky fit comfortably inside, drove him to Newark Airport and it was Bon Voyage!!  The Feldman's were waiting at Ft. Lauderdale airport as Rocky arrived safe and sound. The perfect happy tail ending to this story. As you can see I am very happy here in Florida and really love Mommy's bedspread!

A GIFT FOR TERRI Abandoned on Richmond Terrace in Staten Island with a cinder block tied to her collar, our beautiful Shepherd mix Terri had a mammary tumor from not being spayed. She needed surgery to remove the tumor so she could have a normal life in a new forever home. Update 9/15/10:Terri had the surgery to remove her tumor and it tested positive for adenocarcinoma. Her lymph nodes were negative which is encouraging. Dr. Joanna Nortman from the Staten Island Vet Group who performed the surgery absolutely fell in love with Terri. With Lisa Rooney's blessing Dr. Nortman will adopt Terri and provide the loving forever home she needs. We can't stress enough the importanceof early spay/neuter to avoid these type of medical complications. Click here to read more about the benefits of early spay/neuter. Gary Has Been Adopted!!! Cat:  Domestic Short Hair Size: Medium Age: Adult Sex: Male I am thrilled to tell you that Gary had an awesome time investigating his new home last night! He walked around and around to each room sniffing and resting over and over. He used his litterbox every time and had a nice drink of water. He discovered the big bay window too- Since it was night time, I think he saw more of his reflection than anything else and that fascinated him too! Gary slept with me and was amazed at TV! He watched his first ever movie- Creature From the Black Lagoon and loved it LOL He ate all of his wet food this morning and then took a little nap before investigating all over again! I bet he realizes now that last night wasn't just a dream. He really is home- and there's no place like it. Thank you again for letting Gary come into my heart. I adopted Brooke last February.  We were her third home.  They say the third is the charm and it really is. Tara Has Been Adopted!!!        Dog: German Shepherd mix       Size: Large       Age:  Adult       Sex:  Female Hi Lisa,  I've been meaning to write to let you know how happy Tara is.  I adopted her back in May 2010.  As you can see from the pictures, she is looking good, she is healthy, she loves my Granddaughter Shyanne, and she takes up residence on my couch when she thinks no one is watching.  Lisa, thanks for bringing Tara into my life.  I would love to adopt a second dog but Tara still doesn't get along with other dogs or cats.  So, for now, we will give her all our love, because that's what we get from her.  She is so good when alone at home (except for the couch thing) and never has any accidents nor any destructive behavior.  Tara has adjusted very well.  So, I though you would appreciate hearing that one of your adoptees has done very well. We recently adopted an older cat, Deacon (formerly Lova Boy), from P.L.U.T.O. As Claudia said, he has been wonderful and is really thriving in his new home. Attached are some pictures -- enjoy, and thank you to P.L.U.T.O for all they do!

When we adopted Ralph 11 yrs. ago at 3 yrs. all the people who saw him before said he wasn't cute enough. They couldn't see past the fur that had been shaved because he had fleas. All we saw was a beautful dog with a wonderful personality who needed a little love. He had a thyroid condition and lost most of his fur the first few months we had him but he was still beautiful, just a little unique looking. We got that under control with medication. A few years ago he was asked to be in a book. Here is a picture. He is now 14 yrs. old, and an amazing dog. We are forever grateful to you Lisa for finding him and letting us adopt him.
