Kitten Adoption

Who We Are

Gotham City Kitties, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and placement of abandoned and stray cats and kittens.

We provide all necessary veterinary care and testing to insure the health and well-being of our rescues. All animals are vaccinated prior to adoption and those who are of age (6 months or older) are neutered. Adopters who choose kittens sign an agreement stating they will alter the animal at 6 months.

No animal with a reasonable medical prognosis is euthanized at Gotham City Kitties because of behavior or disease.

Our process

Gotham City Kitties (GCK) works hard to find the perfect cat for you, no matter how long it takes. We want you and your new cat to be completely happy together. GCK prides itself on a very low rate of returns. We believe it is because of our unique process:

Where to see our cats and kittens:

Our furbabies are shown by APPOINTMENT ONLY after we receive a Pre-Adoption Questionnaire. (Please select the link at bottom of this page to download an application in Microsoft Word format or call us at 917.653.9033) Please note: Gotham City Kitties, Inc. is a volunteer organization with a staff of one primarily reviewing applications. Applications may take up to 1 to 3 days to process. Your patience is kindly appreciated.

After our approval process how do you receive our cats and kittens:

We always deliver cats and kittens to their new homes and are available thereafter by phone or email to help with adjustment issues. Complete vet records will be provided at the time of adoption and/or we can have our vet fax them directly to your veterinarian. GCK uses Dr. Andrew Kaplan and staff at City Veterinary Clinic on West 72nd Street/Broadway as our primary veterinarian. Please feel free to call 212.799.7000 for a reference.

Our cats and kittens return policy:

IF THE ADOPTION DOES NOT WORK OUT WE WILL ACCEPT THE CAT or KITTEN(s) BACK FROM YOU AT ANY TIME IN THE FUTURE. During our application process you will be asked to sign a legal adoption agreement stating that you will not give the cat or kitten(s) to a person unknown to GCK or take the cat or kitten(s) to a shelter. Since we always take them back at any time there is no need to do so.

Foster

Like all rescue organizations, Gotham City Kitties needs loving foster homes to house some of our animals when the boarding facility is overflowing (always) or help with some of our surrenders and rescues who don’t do well in a cage. We understand how difficult the choice to foster can be, but it can also be incredibly rewarding to see an animal you help go home with the right family. As with adoptions, we screen all potential foster homes to be sure we’re making a good match. All medical expenses are taken care of by GCK and food and litter costs can be written off as a charitable donation. If you’re interested in becoming a foster home, please contact us today to learn more.

Donate

GCK relies heavily on donations from the public to enable us to continue our rescue work. Your donations will help with veterinary expenses, including life saving surgeries, food, boarding and the like. You can help all year by making a monthly commitment of just $5.00. Although it is just a cup of fancy coffee for you, it means much more to our cats.

Volunteer

GCK relies heavily on our volunteers to help in a variety of ways. Our rescues need lots of love and attention and appreciate any time you can give them. Gotham City Kitties needs your special skills to help us in ways you might not recognize you can. For instance, some of our volunteers have helped create our logo, provide a web site, write grants and business plans, provide legal services, and much, much more. What special skill can you provide?
