About Maria

This page is dedicated to our beloved pets who have gone to Rainbow Bridge, but are not forgotten.

We pulled this saddened soul from the shelter not long ago.  We knew he had medical problems, most likely his heart.  Along came this lovely woman named Charlotte who visited us looking for a Chihuahua, but instead fell in love with Tater Tot.  She was drawn to him, despite his medical problems, and took him home with her to the Catskills that day.  She called the following day to say how much she loved this little boy and that he was the sweetest baby ever.

Tater Tot

She renamed him "Precious" (for obvious reasons).  The two of them spent the day outside, he in his basket, or just roaming the grounds of Charlotte's Bed & Breakfast Resort.  What a lovely day it was!  The following day, however, we received a call that this little guy passed away of a heart attack.  Charlotte was devastated, even though she had him for such a short time.

    BooBoo Bear

BooBoo was a senior boy who had a grade 5 heart murmur, severe arthritis, and was totally deaf.  He still stayed with me for 2 years, despite his horrific health conditions from prior years of neglect.

Wilbur

Wilbur was 15 years old when he came to me.  This little guy just melted me!!  He lived for 6 more months before succumbing to kidney failure.

  Trucker

Trucker came with a grade 5 heart murmur from a backyard breeder.  He lived with me for 5 years until he passed away from congestive heart failure.

Reno

Reno was 10 yrs. old when he came down with pneumonia.  His tiny size made him susceptible to illness.  He was in critical care for 5 days and placed in an oxygen ten.  When I was finally permitted to visit him, he was removed from the oxygen & died one minute late on my shoulder...my little boy waited for me!

  Abbey

Abbey came to me extremely ill.  The vets all said she would have perhaps one month to live.  She had urinary track, plus ear infections, mammary tumors & a neurological disorder...she lived for a year-and-a-half under my care.

PeeWee

PeeWee came to me at the age of 6 with a grade 6 heart murmur.  He lived for only 3 short months with me, then passed of congestive heart failure in his sleep.

   Puffer

Puffer was my heart of hearts.  I don't remember ever seeing her feet touch the floor.  She had Cushing's disease as well as an auto-immune deficiency.  She passed at the age of 14.

Nibbles

Nibbles was born totally deaf.  He lived in his own quiet world and passed in his sleep of old age at 15.

    Minnie

Minnie, a/k/a Moo-Moo, became a diabetic at age 7.  She was given 2 insulin injections daily for the next 8 years until she had seizure and never came out of it.  She passed at the age of 15.

Li'l  Nicky

Li'l  Nicky had a slipped disc at age 2 which left him paralyzed.  I expressed his bladder for the next 13 years.  He passed from carcinoma at the age of 15.

                              Buddy
On 7/25/06, my little man went to the "Bridge".  He was 14 yrs.  He had been rescued from a puppy mill where he spent his first 8 yrs in a tiny cage, causing his back to arch.  He was very frail.  Two years ago, his trachea collapsed and he fought for his life.  A medication was prescribed for him that drastically improved his condition.  However, he was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor and peacefully crossed over to the Bridge.  I will dearly miss my little man!

Dolly

On this day, 7/25/06, while I lost my Buddy, I also lost my dear little Dolly.  It was one of the worst days for me.  Dolly was approximately 10 yrs. old and was removed from a shelter by me.  Other than a thyroid problem, she appeared to be in good health.  Suddenly she displayed an action that caused me to rush her to the vet and discovered she had a brain aneurysm.  There was no prior warning.  She passed along with my Buddy today.

Hope came to me on 6/16/06 with the worst ear infections I have ever seen.  Extensive damage had been done to her eye which did not allow her eye to close, not even to sleep.  She was suffering from pain for a very long time.  On 6/20, she had surgery to remove her one eye, only to discover the other eye needed to be removed as well.  The vet found extensive wounds to her eyelids, wounds deliberately inflicted either by man or animal, we are not sure......the vet thinks "man".  On 6/28, Hope came home from the hospital.  Her prognosis was very poor.

Hope

She was only 5-6 years old........just a pup!  By 7/3, she started to take a turn for the worst.  On 7/5, my little angel was given her wings from God, free from the pain mankind so cruelly bestowed upon her.  She had nothing left with which to fight and finally went into kidney failure.

I will be honest enough to admit that I pray whoever the person was to have tortured this dear soul may one day suffer the same pain inflicted up her.
