Damon's Den Doberman Rescue of Western PA

DPCA Member

Damon's Den Doberman Rescue Proudly Adheres to all of the DPCA Code of Ethics Standards

Our Adoptable Pet List

Damon's Den doesn't limit placements to Dobermans at this time. You will find various available breeds listed on our Petfinder site at any given time. The adoption application is geared towards Dobermans however, so simply answer the questions that are Doberman specific, for the breed that YOU are applying for. Thanks for your understanding.

Please note that we *ONLY* make placements in the western PA/northwestern WV area, ......*NO* out of area adoptions will be considered, *NO* exceptions...

Our Featured Pet: Ginger

CinchPlease note that our dogs are only available to those who reside in the western PA/northwestern WV area.

Ginger is a 4 year old Pit Bull mix who weighs approximately 60#. She is UTD on everything, spayed and housetrained. She was rescued off the city streets as a stray about 2 years ago and lived with 2 smaller dogs for all that time. The owner's living situation changed so she was surrendered to rescue rather than being dumped in a shelter. She is in foster in Morgantown and being taught lots of new things. She has successfully interacted with a cat and been introduced on a careful basis with one of the foster's dogs. She is not terribly skilled in proper dog greeting so any potential canine housemate would need to be tolerant. She can be an only dog or be placed with the appropriate male dog. Most cats should be fine and she is fantastic with humans of all ages.

All adoptions require an application, a home visit and a contract. An adoption fee will apply, though the amount will vary with each dog. No inquiries, including phone calls, will be processed without a completed application.

A Dog Named Jordan:
The Story of a Rescue Dog

A SPECIAL TRIBUTE

Grace Joffe
1937-2004

The Doberman world on this earth lost a very special woman on November 29th, 2004. Grace Joffe, known throughout the Doberman world as Grandma Grace, the grand dame of Liquorish Dobes, passed from this world to the next. The excitement of the Dobermans in Heaven that day  was surely a site to see as they all jostled each other to meet this wonderful woman who had loved them all so. We would like to dedicate a portion of every effort that we make to the momentous love that Grace had for all Dobermans. May our efforts always strive to be as grand as Grace's dreams for Dobermans worldwide. I will always remember her encouragement at my rescue efforts and her amazing support via phone and email. Thank you Grace for helping me to have the strength and knowledge to continue with the work that you so lovingly supported. I will always regret not having met you on this realm and look forward to meeting you in the next one. We love you and we miss you dearly.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

We are always in need of quality volunteers for all aspects of rescue, including but not limited to: processing applications such as making phone calls and doing home visits, ongoing fund raising efforts, foster homes, administrative assistance, etc. Every little bit helps. No amount of assistance is too small. Our volunteers are thoroughly screened, especially those who have contact with our rescue dogs. Foster home expenses are paid for by the group. We are attempting to obtain our 501C3 status, so we will need ongoing research assistance with that as well. Please contact us or complete a volunteer application if you are interested.

SPECIAL THANKS!!

We would like to thank Amy Romanofsky, the site owner of Pgh Dogs on the Web, for her absolutely spectacular web assistance! Thanks, Amy! See her site at Pittsburgh Dogs There are local Pittsburgh email lists that would be of interest to many of you including PghDogs and PghAnimalChat and PghDogRescue so check out Amy's links for those on there. Enjoy!

We would like to offer our immense gratitude to Marguerita Young-Jones, Esquire, who with her legal assistance and advise, is enabling us to help more Dobes in need.

We would like to thank Avalon Veterinary Hospital in Avalon, PA, especially Dr. Thomas Moore, for treating for our rescued dogs in such a caring manner! We highly recommend their facilities. They can be reached at 412-761-9149. Thank you!

We would also like to profusely thank Karin Bowser for all of her fundraising support during her all too short lifetime. And we would like to dedicate a portion of our efforts in rescue in memory to her and her valiant spirit. We will miss you forever, Karin. Until we meet again................
