WHAT WE DO

We at Pocono Pet Rescue have several goals.

First and foremost we want to alleviate the plight of the many abandoned and unwanted pets that are a direct result of careless and unregulated breeding.
Currently, we are fostering the pets that come to us in our own homes, while we seek suitable permanent homes for them. We use a conscientious screening process and take great care to make sure we are placing the right pets with the right families.

Second, but of equal importance, is our desire to put an end to the callous business of breeding dogs for profit, commonly known as "puppy mills". To this end we are establishing the Casey Memorial Fund. Money donated to this fund will be put to use financing the rescue of more "breeding-stock" dogs, as well as things like organizing letter-writing campaigns and flyer-blitzes and finding more ways of educating the public to the realities of this cruel and inhumane enterprise.

We are also working toward establishing a "no-kill" pet sanctuary that will allow us to help a greater number of pets to find loving homes, as well as providing permanent shelter, in a home-like setting, for our "unadoptable" friends.

So far this year, we have successfully placed 73 pets in new homes, and saved 26 pets from euthanasia, as well as rescuing 25 from puppy mills and assisting in the long-distance transport of 50.
We have also adopted two senior sweeties ourselves.
