Who We Are

We're a family in Northern Lancaster County, Pennsylvania (yes, THAT Lancaster County), and we've started reaching out to local Puppy Farms. We've convinced several local breeders that it's better to place their dogs into a loving home than to continue doing what they used to do with a dog they no longer wanted.

We also rescue cats from local farms, families, and nearby kill shelters. You'll find our rescue cats and kittens at PetValu stores in Lititz and Ephrata, PA (and we're willing to expand into other pet stores, if there's interest!). We've also found homes for several rabbits, a couple of finches, and a pony!

We do not have a shelter facility that you can visit, as we do all our housing and care through foster homes and volunteers. But we do bring our dogs and cats to Petsmart in Lancaster (Route 30 East at Target), and three PetValu stores (Lititz, Ephrata and Morgantown). We will make appointments for approved adopters to come meet the animal, and see if the animal adopts them (it's far more important that the animal is happy, as they've had the much more difficult life).

PLEASE NOTE: We are, as it says above, a family, and that must come first in everything we do! We're active in rescuing animals, but our children get our full attention as much as they need it. So if we are slow to respond to you, or we take more time than you might think is proper, chalk it up to being parents first, and animal rescuers second! We hope you understand...

The adoption process....

Our process is very easy...there is a link to an adoption form on the page for each dog. Find a dog you're interested in adopting, and click the link to complete the adoption form. We'll review it, contact your references, and get in touch with the homes we believe to be the best match. We make no guarantees of working in any order of receipt...we're looking for the proper home for our dogs, not just whoever can fill out the form the fastest! No offense intended, please!

Services We Provide

When we rescue a dog from a local breeder, we take it to our Veterinarian for a complete checkup. We take care of spaying/neutering the dog, have all the shots brought up to date, have the teeth checked (and fixed, if necessary), and any potential problems identified. We also microchip each dog, and have the paperwork for that chip to give to the adopter, so you have a permanent license for your rescue.

Please understand that these dogs have been rescued from nearby farms and "backyard breeders", so they have not lived a pampered life. If you are looking for the perfect dog, you're probably not looking for a rescue dog, as we cannot guarantee anything about these dogs. If there is a problem that may effect the health of the dog, we will clearly identify that prior to adoption, so that there are no misunderstandings.

One thing we do not provide is transportation...we've had requests to ship dogs across the country, and we just can't (and won't...if you've heard any of the "horror stories" we've heard about shipping dogs, you wouldn't ask for that service!). Besides, the purpose of you coming to pick up the dog is twofold...so you can meet the dog, and so he/she can meet you! That's the last part of the "test"...if the dog doesn't take to you, or if we feel it's just not going to work out, we need to know that before you take the dog home with you. Again, it's nothing personal, but these dogs have had a difficult life to this point, and we want to make sure that the rest of their days are as happy as they can be!
