    Who We Are

I've owned Corgis since 1989 here at Walmarsh on Edisto and I did lots of research before acquiring my first boy - Yoda. I adore this breed for who they are:
* A big personality in a small body
* Very, very smart and a quick study- learn easily
* They are a medium size pet and manageable if you have several
(like potato chips, you can't have just one). Walton Salley

Through my friendship and admiration for the late Hilda Towery, Rescue Chair for Greater Pembroke Corgi Club of Atlanta, I learned about many that were less fortunate. Hilda and her successor Jody Algood, are mentors and friends. Hilda is still missed by many and owned this breed since the late 50's. I have worked with Atlanta Rescue for over 10 years and courtesy post many of their dogs who come into rescue. My first two pemmies came from Linda Stoddard who has owned corgis for 26 years. She teaches agility and obedience and her knowledge of the breed is unsurpassed. She has been a mentor and a friend for 19 years. She has been kind enough to foster some who have come into rescue who have enjoyed her boot camp and charm school. Thank you Linda. A very special thanks also to the Corgi Guru, Stephanie Hedgepath, well known show breeder and friend. Gail Marcum, President of the Palmetto Pembroke Corgi Club, has transported many for our rescue and also fostered a few.

Regardless if you are considering a rescue or purchasing a Corgi.
PLEASE research the breed- pros and cons.
- They are shedders!
- They need exercise!
- Most are food hounds!
(You may want to read about the green bean diet)

Research the rescue group you are working with!! Our group requires a detailed application, vet references, home visit and extensive conversations with potential applicants.

Do NOT buy a pet from a Pet Shop - these are puppy mill dogs!

Do NOT buy a pet from a recreational breeder!
