    Fostering

Fostering

Fostering a dog saves a life.

Foster care consists of providing a safe, loving, temporary home for a dog until a permanent adoptive home can be found. All dogs are screened for health and temperament before entering our program. We can only rescue as many dogs as we have foster homes! We provide food, basic supplies, veterinary care, and guidance. You provide the love, training and home. The dog provides you with love, joy, and the satisfaction of having saved a life. Aside from regular day-to-day care (feeding, grooming, exercise), the responsibilities of a foster home may include basic training (housetraining, walking on leash, sit, down); behavior modification (to correct problems such as jumping, mouthing, barking, destructive chewing, dashing through doors); socialization and temperament evaluation (to determine whether the dog is good with different types of people and other animals); medical care (dispensing medication, taking the dog to vet appointments), and of course plenty of playtime and snuggling. Fostering a dog may seem like a formidable task, but it's a very tangible way to make a difference.

Everyone benefits: The foster volunteer gets to spend time with a special dog, and you have saved a life many times by providing a loving environment for a rescue.

If you would like to help us by fostering a dog please fill out our Foster Application and email the completed form to Kavita Nanda at MorganCorgi@gmail.com, Rescue/Foster Coordinator.

Transport

We are always looking for volunteers who are willing to transport a Corgi coming into rescue to his foster home. The majority of the Corgis are coming from NC.

Are you willing to drive a new rescue about an hour towrds his foster home?
Normally it takes 2 or 3 people who will 'drive a leg". Transport is normally on week-ends and a route sheet, meeting place is setup.

Please consider giving your time. Email Walton Salley at SalleyW@BellSouth.net.
