In Case You Didn't Know . . . Dachshunds Are VERY Smart!

Blue takes things into his own paws as he searches for his forever home. He loves his foster mommy but he's so ready for the home he will never have to leave.

(We have others just as smart - ask us!)

Looking for a dachshund to add to your family? We have dogs that are not yet listed on the website. Let us know what you are looking for.

If we don't currently have "your" special dog, consider filling out an application anyway. We will process your application so you will be pre-approved when your special dog does come in. This way, you won't have to wait when you see the dachshund you want and it will be in your home before you know it!

Worried about adopting a dog that is a little older? Remember, dachshunds often live over 16 years so an 8 year old still has alot of time to love you.

FOSTER HOMES NEEDED!

We need foster homes. Please consider joining our organization to help these precious babies find loving, forever homes. If you have room for a dachshund in your home while he/she waits to be adopted, please complete a Foster/Member Application and we will be in touch with you shortly.

Most of our members are located in the Southeastern States right now but we hope to expand all over the United States. In some states we only have a couple of members but you could change that. Please see Membership section for more information.

All of our rescues are now micro-chipped but we must pass the small cost on to our adopters. Micro-chips are through 24 Petwatch. If you have adopted one of our dogs, please be sure you have registered the chip. You can do this at www.24petwatch.com.

Some breeder dogs can not be saved no matter what you do and this web site is dedicated to just such a dog, RUSTY.

I got a call from a shelter that they had a red smooth male turned in by his owners, registration papers included. When I picked up Rusty, he was terrified. Every time I touched him he would quiver like he expected to be hit. It didn't take long to figure out he had been terribly abused. I have yet to figure out the reason. Off we went
to the vet's and there we learned he was heartworm positive. He started treatment but his poor little body couldn't take it and he passed away. His thin, shaking body still haunts me today. I am sorry he never got to know what it was like to be loved instead of beaten and to know that humans were to be loved, not feared. He was only 6 years old when he passed away.
So RUSTY this is for you, my special angel!!
