A total of 7 of our great dogs and puppies were adopted by their new families. How excited we were! Make sure to head on over to our blog and read the stories about the adoptions ... if you don't see your story, send it to us and we'll post it for you! We'd love to have any pictures you might take of your new best friend in her/his new surroundings.

A good time was had by all ... who would not have fun when the motto for Ben & Jerry's on Tuesday, April 29 was "If you love something, get it free"! Free ice cream. And great dogs from Good Dog Rescue there for all to pet and love and maybe, just maybe, adopt! We had a great time at the East Memphis and Germantown locations of Ben & Jerry's. Take a look at our blog for some fun photos! Make sure and join us this weekend for our adoption events Saturday, May 3 from 1-4pm at the Bartlett Petco and Sunday, May 4 from 12-3pm at the Memphis Petco at 3468 Poplar Avenue.

As always we had a great time at Ben & Jerry's East Memphis location. Another successful day with 5 of our good dogs and puppies going home to their forever families. More people came by and walked and petted our adorable furry friends. Our thanks go out to those of you who opened your homes to these precious animals, as well as to those of you who care enough to foster and tell others about the homes needed. Have a look at our blog for special stories about these fantastic pets and their new homes! We have a special Tuesday adoption event this coming week. On Tuesday, April 29 from 12noon to 8pm Ben & Jerry's is having a free ice cream day ... and is graciously letting us be at their East Memphis and Germantown locations from 3pm to 8pm. We'll have a few dogs at each site and will have information about other adoptable dogs as well. See the details to the right.

Look at us! We were adopted into our forever homes today! YAY!

We had a great time at the Jewish Community Center on Sunday, April 13. Lots of people coming to visit with the doggies. Two of the little puppies who need homes (Spencer and Kate) were alternately excited and exhausted from all the attention they were receiving! Two fortunate dogs (Sam and Josh) started their lives anew in their forever homes! Won't you join us at our next adoption event on Saturday, April 19 from 10am to 1pm at Hollywood Feed Store, 6765 Stage Road, Bartlett, TN, (901) 382-8002, where you could adopt a forever friend? Our March 29, 2008 adoption event at the Petco at 3468 Poplar Avenue was a great success ... in spite of the torrential downpour that started mid-way through. Thanks to everyone who came out to see our pets. Several were adopted today!

We had a fun adoption event on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the Ben & Jerry's location near the Paradiso Theater. Wonderful weather on the patio and 5 dogs adopted to their new fur-ever homes! Thanks to Marc and Brian and all the employees at Ben & Jerry's for their support. Thanks to all of you who came to see our dogs.

We recently heard a wonderful story about adopting an older dog. ChiChi was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Stockton. They said she looked just like their Katie who recently died at age 20. Katie became a family member at age 9 y.o. and lived an additional 11 years.

We often get senior pets from shelters when the owner has died and left behind a loving pet. Most people seem very resistant to taking a pet in the 10 y.o. range. In fact these pets are often the best match for their activity level and projected life span. It is a tragic thing when pets outlive their guardian and find themselves homeless. Please consider an older pet if you are an older adult.
