I am very happy to report that Lilly is the perfect cat. She is sooo adorable. She likes to come and nestle into to pillow at the back of my neck when I am sitting in my comfy chair. She will give me love pats on the head. she also loves to sit at the bar and watch me cook. Lilly has a very distinctive meow, sounds like a little mouse. the first time she made the sound I really thought there was a mouse around. She and my other cat are still just tolerating each other right now but am sure they will settle in. She loves my Pekinese and likes to rub against her. All in all, she is the perfect little lady and she keeps me laughing with her antics with her toys. I am so happy I found her. Her affection and playfulness is priceless. Thanks for letting me give her a forever home.
I am so excited to tell you what a joy Ozzy (Pepper) is. His canine siblings just love him and his feline sister Pumpkin just adores him. She loves chasing him around and grooming him. His human family feels so blessed. He loves having his belly rubbed and his choice of comfortable beds to sleep on. He is an amazing cat and we are glad that he picked us out to spend the rest of his life with. As soon as I can figure out how to send pictures I will. Thanks for checking up with us.
I adopted Carly, a 2 to 3 year old grey female tabby with the brightest blue eyes, and I have to say that she has added so much love and laughter to my life. I changed her name to Ixchel (she goes by Chelly) after a Mayan goddess, since I'm currently a graduate student in archaeology studying the Maya. I love having someone to come home to and she keeps me company while I study, usually perched halfway on my computer and my books. She's made every person she meets fall in love with her just by starring in their eyes. My parents have always been dog people but now every time I come to visit I am ordered to bring Chelly along. Chelly has pretty much taken over my entire apartment and there is no discussing that every seat, chair back, bed, anywhere she can perch is her's. I will attach some of the silly pictures of new places she loves to hide. At this point I cannot imagine life without Chelly. Her vet appointment went well but they did make me cut down on the amount of canned food she was eating so that she could improve her figure. She also had an ear infection probably due to allergies but we got her the ear drops and she's doing great now. I want to thank you for taking a chance on getting Chelly out of the Dallas Animal Shelter and I really do think that we were meant to meet. I was not looking to adopt that exact day but the way she looked into my eyes I knew I could not go home without her. We're thinking that santa might bring her a kitty perch for Christmas and she will be spoiled rotten by both my mother and my boyfriend's mother, she is their grandkitty after all. Thank you for Chelly and all the happiness that she has brought and will bring to my life and the lives of my family!
Little "Joy," is doing great. We have changed her name to "Zoey," only becuase we had harder time pronouncing "Joy,' but we will keep in our hearts the blessing her namesake's because of the love and generosity she showed saving our Zoey. We are so glad the Keller protective shelter lady (Joy) turned her over to Furever Friends!
She is wonderful!!! We have named her Sugar. Haley took a poll at school with all the names we came up with and got their input for her final name. She was adopted on Halloween (October 31st). Her original name was 'Thriller'. She is sooo sweet that we named her Sugar. As you well know, there is a lot of sugar at Halloween, so we thought that name fit!
Sugar has had a rough time of it medically. She is still on antibiotics and we hope that she will be well soon. We are currently waiting for results on ringworm. I took my daughter to the doctor today to make sure that she didn't have ringworm. She has a suspicious spot on her arm where Sugar often rests.
The kids and I are wanting to have a fund raiser for Furever Friends as soon as Sugar is well. We appreciate Furever Friends assisting to get Sugar well so we can fully start our journey with her.
She is a snuggly little thing. She was about 4 months behind in growth when we got her. We have been carefully watching her diet and she has gained a healthy couple of pounds. She is catching up to her goal weight and size for her age. She is currently wearing a Build A Bear sweater that she seems to like. She lays in a basket next to me when I am working on the computer. She is just great!
Thank you for saving her life. We are enjoying her being apart of our family!
We adopted Celeste and have re-named her Boo (black cat adopted close to Halloween). She was comfortable in our house right away, although our other pets (3 cats and 1 dog, all ages 8 - 10) weren't so sure. After we got past the first few days of hissing and panting, they all got used to her, although some still keep their distance. Boo seems to be trying to be "top cat", which is funny considering she's the smallest.
Besides Boo, we have a black Bombay cat named Jag, a black-and-white tuxedo cat named Pawlie, a white cat named Frankie, and a buff-colored golden retriever named Sasha, so Boo fits right into our color scheme of black and white. She is fun and sweet, and will occasionally be a lap cat, although not for long. We are really enjoying this addition to our family.
a Furever Friends adopted dog is on the cover of a soon to be published book ... just wanted to share and brag on our little Bella ... she was one of a pair of pups we adopted about 2 years ago
We just love them-they have been a great addition to the family. They love each other so much and play so well together even though Colt is so much bigger then Coco. J coco is fearless-not afraid of anything-not even the vacuum cleaner!
I want to let you know I am so so so happy with my pup I rescued through you guys.
She had a photoshoot last week. HAHAHA
There was another adoption, Ichabod, a Chinese Crested X . I adopted him, and we are in LOVE!!! We named him Lynard Skynhaired, but we just call him Lynny. He went everywhere with me yesterday, the cleaners, grocery store, even the doctors office. I'm waiting for his new carrying bag to come in, so I took an old purse and vented it for him. I just put him in the purse with a chewy treat and I never heard a peep out of him when we went into all the businesses. He is going to be neutered Thursday and I'm going to have him micro-chipped at that time. Weighing in at 5.4 lbs. I think the needle for the chip is bigger than he is so it will be done while he is under. Larry is pretty crazy about him too. When I woke up this morning I found Lynny asleep under Larry's arm. It was soooo cute. I went to get him and Larry said to just leave him. He gets along well with the other dogs, and he is Harpo's baby. They even spend alot of time in Harpo's crate together- found them cuddled asleep. There has been such a void in our hearts since the passing of our beloved Rex, and though there will NEVER be another Rex, Lynny is capturing our hearts. In the short time we have had him, we couldn't be more thrilled, Special thanks to Donna for pulling him. I will be forever indebted to her ( I feel as though she will find many ways for me to pay her back)! Just another Furever Friends happy ending.
I was thinking about writing e-mail to you. We appreciate the opportunity having this dog. Thank you so much remembering us.
Yes, it was very frustrating for his poddy training first 1-2 months. Now we are using poddy pads at home and he is good with that.
We named him "Woody" and we are having so much fun with him. He was 3 pounds when we got him first, now he is 7.2 pounds.
We went to camping together in May. And in June we took him to family reunion in North Carolina and he was the most popular family member. He is so good with people and he likes even shopping time with me.
He is very healthy and happy. I attached the photo we took at the airport coming back from North Carolina family reunion. He was very good even in the plane while flight.
Sometimes people ask where we got him, and we advertise "Furever Friends". Hope you are doing well.
Thanks for the opportunity to have him!
Shane is doing wonderfully in his new home! He and our other kitten Toby have "bonded" and spend the days either playing together (translation ... wrestling, "fighting," and then grooming mid-wrestle) or knapping together. It only took them one day to warm up to each other. We are so grateful and thankful that he and Toby are friends. It is so cute that Toby (our 6 month old) is acting as the "big brother" to Shane and teaching him the ropes. He began grooming Shane on the second day of Shane's incorporation, and today Shane has begun grooming Toby in return. (I am still unemployed. so I am able to spend my days with the kittens.) I have also discovered another passion of Shane ... watching and "chasing" the mouse pointer on a computer screen! And yep, he also still enjoys sitting in the living room with us and watching television!
Linda and I think that Toby and Shane are going to go through life as "best friends," and that is absolutely wonderful to see and watch. Thank you so much for allowing us to bring Shane into our home.
Mary is doing wonderfully! We've actually renamed her Dot (short for Dorothy), and she and Tolkien play NON-STOP! He's doing a great job of being gentle with her, and she is fearless! She seems to love wrestling with him even though he is several times larger than her. She is also growing extremely fast, and at her well pet exam last week the vet said she seems to be in great health. We really are enjoying having her as a part of her family, and the relationship between her and Tolkien seems to be great. Thanks for checking up on her!
Tex, as he is now known (sometimes Lonesome Tex) is thriving....it took a couple rounds of anti-biotics but he is healthy, eating like a horse, playing with the dog and enjoying summer days, and has become an attention hog....thanks for all you do for these little guys.....here he is lounging on the couch
I have been meaning to send an update on our May adoption, Sunny (his foster
mom was Donna). I have attached 5 pictures for you.
Sunny is the sweetest cat! He has been sweet since we got him, but we've
seen a big change. In the beginning he was always sleeping and hiding under
beds. He was very mean to our dog, who is extremely gentle. She has never
made one aggressive move toward Sunny. It has taken him 6 months to begin
to trust her and get this close (as you will see in the picture). Hopefully
they will be friends one day soon!
After a month or two, Sunny began to be out & about more often and sleep
less. Maybe this had to do with the medications for his kidney infection,
and maybe due to time~ eating regularly again & sleeping. His fur also
seems much healthier. I feel like he had an "awakening." He is the
friendliest, sweetest little cat!
We have 3 children and every night Sunny comes upstairs during our bedtime
routine to make his rounds to say goodnight (another picture of him in my
daughter's bed).
If you could also let the animal control officer who found & saved Sunny we
are very grateful.
She's so funny- curious about everything-and completely fearless! She loves my husband and anything with his scent - attached photo is her on his shoes :-) it doesn't matter where he hides them- she finds them and lays on them anyway!
My wife and I wanted to thank you so much for fostering Fudge (we changed his name to Mack) and holding on to him until we could find him. He's pretty much the perfect little guy in our opinion and has been an absolute pleasure for both my wife and I. We really have never had any real problems with him and his demeanor is about as sweet as you could get in a dog. He loves everybody he meets and interacts great with other dogs. We take him to the dog park regularly and he introduces himself to everyone and gets nothing but compliments on how cute he is. The only downside my wife and I have come up with is we love him so much and think he is so great that we wish would could find another one just like him, but he's just so unique that's going to be hard.
Anyways, we just wanted to thank you for what you do and taking care of Mack (Fudge) before he came to us. Clearly he was well taken care of and it's show in how sweet he's grown up to be. I've attached an updated pic of him so you can see how he's turned out.
I sure enjoyed the trip to Dallas and meeting you. You sure seem to have a first class operation. It is great that organizations like yours exist to help those wonderful babies out there.
I have to say that this is just the sweetest little boy I have ever seen! He is adjusting well, and has been all over town with me on my calls today. He has the sniffles and sneezes a lot, so I took him into my vet just to be sure it was nothing serious today. He said it may be a mild case of bronchitis, but should clear up and be fine. If it doesn't then he will take care of it.
He is having so much fun playing that he keeps me laughing. I have started working with him as he has had a few accidents in the house. I have a crate handy when needed and I am restricting his food and water at night and that also seems to be helping. I have not even used the crate yet for him so far.
Everyone who meets him just loves him to pieces and he really seems to eat up the attention. That little boy really can really eat! LOL! He is doing very well with sharing the food bowl with Ellie Mae and Girlie, (the german shep.)
I can't thank you enough for allowing me the joy of having him here. I promise he will want for nothing and will have more love than he even needs. He sleeps on one side of me under the covers, and Ellie sleeps on the other...between them I feel like I am in a blast furnace! LOL I will send some pictures of him as soon as I have a chance to take some.
Thank you for this little sweet bundle of love, and keep fighting the good fight
I wanted to drop you a note to tell you how much I appreciate you letting me get Jethro. He is the silliest and cutest little guy I have ever seen! It has been such a joy watching his personality grow and his little quirks start to come through. He has become the ultimate lap dog and loves to crash out in my lap...(on his back!) after playing with the other dogs. He has become a real gentleman at the food bowl and allows his 'sisters' to eat at the same time without a fuss. His house training has gone well, and he is having very few accidents in the house.
All in all he is doing great! I love this little boy so much and of course I spoil him rotten. :-) I am enclosing a pic that I took yesterday when he jumped on my computer chair and didn't want to get down. LOL! I think he wanted to send some email!! :-)
Thanks again for allowing me the privelige to have this little buddy here in my home. He is, and I am sure will continue to be, an absolute joy.
I wanted to let you know that Pudge and Fudge are both adjusting well. We are having so much fun with them. I wanted to ask you if you noticed that Pudge really looks after, and takes care of Fudge. The first day we brought them home Fudge hid under the entertainment center and we were looking all over the pace for a few hours for her and were getting worried. Then I saw Pudge go behind there and pull out Fudge so we could see she was okay and still there. She just seems like a great big sister. She is making sure she eats and knows where the litter box is. They are a wonderful edition to our family and we all could not be happier that that are in our lives. I just wanted to let you know of their progress, since they were your babies before becoming ours.
boy he's a tough little spud isn't he....and so tiny. He's doing great, a little trouble with runny poop (okay more than runny) but it seems to be getting better, he's keeping some home made food down, not intimidated by the dog altho we are building a fortress with his basket on top so he won't be bothered (the dog thinks they should play) and very affectionate...he's curled up on my lap as I work at the computer....we are thrilled, it's like Christmas around here. What a sweet boy and Murray, you're a saint to ferry these guys around...thank you all for all you do
here's a pic of our boy....took us most of last week to get the poop under control (raw food and over the counter anti-diarrheal medicine) and now that he's not using the box every half hour, he's getting some energy back and developing a strong personality--he is barely fazed by our dog (who we adopted a month ago--we lost our dog in Dec and our cat in Jan, so it's been sad around here until now) thank you so much for all your effort in delivering him to us (I can't believe the other passengers didn't attack you and hurl his poopy carrier out the emergency door) We feel we have rounded the corner and are going to have some real fun with him...

I thought you might enjoy seeing a recent picture of Jasper. Here he is with his best friend Sebastian.
Jasper continues to grow and thrive and be a very loving and friendly kitty. He is very bold and a bit of a rascal.
Though I called to provide an update on Quigley, I wanted to provide some happy photos of him. He has definitely settled right into our family life and we love having him. He is loving, playful and just an overall, great lap kitty.
Thank you to Furever Friends and the foster family for caring for our boy.

Here is the latest on Maggie: She is doing great here at the L's. She is playing with all three of her brothers and sister, and even Phoebe the cat. This week she went into the pool on the sundeck, to get her feet wet. Today I took her to the Vet to get her stitches out and they are doing the first round of Heartworm Treatment. I will pick her up tomorrow morning after she gets her second Heartworm shot. She truly enjoys her home with us....
Thanks Again.... J L

I just wanted to tell you that Oliver is doing great!! He and Reggie have become fast friends. The initial two nights were hard, Reggie was NOT happy, but since then, he has really taken to Oliver, though its evident Reggie is definitely the "man" of the house.
Oliver is so spirited, happy and just doing so great. I just wanted to thank you so much!!

I am writing to let you know Djinni (Nanette) is doing well. She was shy the first couple days, but gradually adjusted to the new home. She visited vet last week. The vet said she is healthy and will have Djinni complete the shots on 7/29.
She is such a cute and smart puppy. The potty training is coming along. We let her out in the back yard every couple hours. She knows what she needs to do in the yards (she also chases dragonflies and investigates flower bed too). We taught her to sit, down, come and stay. She gets it very quickly. What a smart girl. We started walking her this week. She enjoys walking and meeting people in the park. She hardly barks and is not scared of the noise coming from vacuum and garbage disposal. We cannot wish for a better dog for our family. We want to thank you for taking care of her so a family like us can enjoy her company. I also attached a few pictures of Djinni.

I just wanted to let you all know that Mollie is doing great! I adopted her on Saturday. She is now known as "Rosie" . She made herself right at home and is adjusting very very well. She is full of life and putting on a show for her other older house mates, Rowdy (4 year old male kitty), Roxie (3 year old female kitty) and Rudy (2 year old male). Here are a few pictures of her already settled in. She is scheduled for her wellness exam and other required shots on Monday, July 20th. She will be spayed next month.

Hello there! This is R. I adopted Leia from you several months ago.
Thank you SOOOO much for all you have done. She has turned out to be THE BEST dog we could have ever dreamed of.
It is almost like he was here since birth. He has found favorite places to perch and take long cat naps. Thank you for picking him at the shelter and taking such good care of him.
I just happened to open the bedroom door in the morning and out he ran. He explored the entire house. Was only intimidated by the dog's barking. But now they lay together on the bed. the kitten and midnight play very well. I have never seen such a large cat jump so high. It is as if Midnight has power springs on his paws.

Hello, I adopted Cupid back in the begining of Feb and he is doing AWESOME! He had a minor bacteria infection at the beginning but has recovered very well. He loves his new home and has really warmed up to us. He sleeps at the foot of the bed EVERY night. His favorite toy is a rubber snake and a golf ball of all things. We have had no problems with his behavior and have told many people about your organization. Hope all is well and everyone finds a home!

My 20 year old daughter and I adopted your 8 week old, BLIND, dark tabby kitten named "Johnny" at the time, on Dec 29, 2007. We just wanted to reach out to you and tell you what a wonderful pet Hemingway has been!! The whole family loves him! Although he is M's cat and lives with her at Oklahoma State University, her older brother and his Chesapeake Bay dog, we all love it when she brings him home with her. He is traveling in the car quite well now. As we discovered the first day we had him, you'd never know he was blind with his heightened senses he does have. Hemingway is always listening for M's voice and seeks her out all day long. If she's not home, Hemingway follows big brother around and sleeps in his sock drawer. Hemingway is HUGE AND BEAUTIFUL with long hair, and we do think he is Maine Coon. I am including some pictures so you can see for yourself.
Thank you for rescuing Hemingway.

First week after Molly adopted Hemingway
3 months after adoption with friend Maple at Grandma and Grandpa's house
1 year after adoption
Bandit is doing great. The girls just love him! He sleeps in his crate all night without a peep and plays just about all day. He has a precious personality. We just love how he will curl up in the crook of your neck and sleep. Our only challenge is that he has decided to make the dining room his personal toilet, so we are working on that. His foster parent said they thought he might be a slow learner, but he seems to catch on pretty quickly. When he sees his crate he runs in because he knows he gets a cheerio. And the girls almost have him trained to sit. His coloring seems to be getting lighter so we think he might be more cream color all over. We're waiting to get him groomed so he'll keep his fancy highlights a little longer.
Thanks again for letting us adopt Bandit. He's wonderful!

He's wonderful...and you were right. Came home and ate and drank and then played!!! We "created" his own space with food bowl (and food of course), water, blanket, litter box and of course a "stuffed" mama cat.....After playing he slept (hidden) for awhile while my husband and I cooked dinner then woke up in the middle of dinner and was crying :( so I went and sat on the floor and talked to him while he wondered around the room....he did find his litter box and used it after his nap and then we started playing again! My son and I took turns eating and playing....it's my sons turn right now so that I can get these pictures to you!
Thanks again for letting us adopt kitty....He is fitting in just fine! We already love our little man cat! : )
- R W
I just wanted to let you know that Bobcat has adjusted well. He has met Pooh-- who hissed at him, but he didn't back down! He and Brinklie are getting along just fine - Brinklie wants to help him chase the ball... and that is a little disconcerting for Bobcat, but he deals beautifully, what a brave one he is. We are taking our time with Liberty, who wants to play with him by chasing.. and she is too big to chase!
Thank you so much, the house feels whole again with the sound of the bell on his collar tinkling as he plays!!!
- P M
We adopted "Little Britches" last Sunday. Just wanted to give you an update. She's doing very well. I decided to rename her Clara Belle. She and
our other collie, Shadow, get along very well. She's a sweet girl. We're so happy to have her. Thank you.
- Paula C., Michael H., Shadow, Clara and Chitza 8/23/08
They are so busy running around chasing each other it is hard to get pics but I have a few cute
ones now... As you can see, Chloe Rose (her new name!) has made herself right at home with us
and her big brother, the Maine Coon, Marley! We think it is adorable that she is not the least
bit timid around him even though he is at least 10 times her size! Marley always got picked on
by the other cats he was with before we adopted him in December because of his shorter front arm
and deformed paw so we are so happy that the two of them are inseparable and love each other so
much! Now if only we can get her to stop unraveling the toilet paper rolls and dragging it all
the way into the living room, life will be perfect! She looooves to get into trouble!
-Laura U. 8/20/08
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR JONAS. HE IS SO MUCH FUN TO HAVE AROUND. WE ALL LOVE HIM SO MUCH AND ARE
GRATEFUL TO HAVE HIM IN OUR LIVES! THANKS! .. the Lyons' family 8/5/08
Just a short note to let you know how well Little Eva is settling in to her new home. Eva's had
several introductions to the rest of the family, with most accepting her right away. She's still
restricted to my office or my bedroom for now with visits from the other kitties for some play
time. She's a lively little kitty and she and I have bonded right away. Thank you again for letting
her come home with me! - Cindy B. 8/12/08

Susan and I wanted to let you know how very well
little Cami is doing - after only one week! Your write up about her was 100%
"on target" - she truly loves the dogs (and they took to her immediately!)
and just as Donna predicted, Luthor "settled" after a couple of days and
is now absolutely thrilled to have a constant companion & playmate!
They take turns chasing & bouncing each other and are quickly becoming
inseparable; Cami is so sweet, so loving (and mighty cute too) that she -
along with all of our other 4 legged babies - rules the roost! We're so glad
we found little Cami and sincerely admire & appreciate the wonderful
work that you & Furever Friends do to help precious animals - good for
you! Thanks again! - Best regards, Pat & Susan 3/16/04
Thanks so much for meeting us yesterday.
Adrien is the GREATEST cat!!! He LOVES my boys and they love him :-)
He spent most of the night kissing our noses. He is so affectionate.
I think Bianca is warming up to him. She hissed a little yesterday
and this morning, but I told her that he was here to keep her company and
protect her and he is here to stay. Adrien and our dog Peanut are already
best friends.
Thanks to you and Furever friends for giving us the two best kitties ever. - Michelle 3/16/04
A couple of weeks ago, I adopted the white american
bulldog named Sid. Sid has turned out to be an awesome member of our
family and has made himself quite at home. He is very gentle w/ my
daughter and has just been more than we could have hoped for. - Joseph

Thank you so much on giving me the opportunity
to adopt such a wonderful animal. He is adjusting well to his new home and
our old cat is coming around. I just have a few questions. Did his sister
get adopted yesterday? Also if you know what day was he born? I’m making
little announcements to send to family and friends. Thank you again hope
to here from you soon. - Heidi 3/14/04
Just wanted to let you know about Miss Mittens....She
and Hiro have become good friends. When Hiro had a recurrance of the
kidney infection, Miss Mittens (whose new name is Mizuna) was very attentive,
staying by her and bringing her toys. Why Mizuna? She is partial to
lettuce, so when i make a salad she is apt to steal leaves out of the bowl.
Also, she is often in the sink or tub as the water that drips from the tap
must have a special appeal. My brother was expecting his third at the
time I adopted her, and was looking through baby name books. I told
him I though I was going to call her Mizuna after one of the lettuces in
the spring mix....and we found out that Mizuko means water baby in Japanese......Anyway,
thanks for everything you did to bring us together. Thanks again. -

Hello. My name is Candice and in November 2002
I adopted a kitty named Allie from Furever Friends. She is doing great and
I just wanted to send a few pictures to yall. Since she moved in with us,
she has been renamed BabyCat and this fits her PERFECTLY!!! She is such a
sweet little baby and she loves to be held and play ball. She is extremely
curious too hehe! Thanks again! - Candice 2/18/04
Just had to drop a note and thank Furever Friends
for my two very best friends! They became part of my family almost
2 years ago (I adopted them on March 31, 2002), and all 3 of us are
the richer for it.............You named them Sammie and Basie---2 solid black
DSHs about 6 months old, littermates (brothers), and very bonded to each
other. They were part of a litter of 4 kits that the mom brought
to a lady's home for help both she and the kits were starving and sick, and
the momcat didn't make it, but the kitties did. I adopted Sammie and Basie
from the Southlake PetSmart, and they are the very best kitties in the world......Because
they were such little magicians (appearing and disappearing during our games
of hide and seek), I renamed them Abra and Cadabra, and they've lived up
to their names! These days, their favorite game is ball--I throw, they
chase, catch, and bring it back-----now who's the trained one here---obviously
me! Although this pic is old, I'm sending one along----they've grown into
beautiful, graceful, happy boys, and I absolutely couldn't get along
without them! Their "quirk"--and we all have them--is that Abra (in
the foreground) has these luxurious long whiskers, and Cadabra would also,
I guess---but when they groom each other, Cadabra lets Abra chew
off his whiskers---poor Cadabra, he's left with nothing but little nubbs,
but he doesn't seem to mind at all, and it hasn't hampered his sensory
functions at all--so Cadabra is the "five o'clock shadow" boy! Thank you
so very much for bringing "the boyz" and me together! Although I don't
have human children, the boyz are my children, and I love them dearly. We
have a wonderful home together, thanks to you! Deborah 1/26/04

Just a quick update on Lilly.
Everything is going great. Lilly is adjusting well and at an amazing
speed. She seems intent on getting theother 2 dogs to accept and play
with her as quickly as possible. Our oldest dog Sophia was surprisingly
quick in striking up a friendship.Sophia is usually a very sedentary dog.
However, she is playing around with Lilly like she was a puppy again.
Speedy our JRT was more territorial. He would even go as far as to
sleep on top of his play toys so she wouldn't play with them. However,
as of yesterday Speedy and Lilly were in an intense game of tag around the
house so everything is fine. I have already taken her to Dr. Carroll's
office in Dallas and she has gotten a clean bill of health. Again,
Lilly is a cute and personable dog and is a wonderful addition to our family.
I have
attached some photos we have took if you would like to see them. Sincerely, - Doug 11/19/03
Just wanted to send an update
about the puppy we adopted. Before he was known as Sage and now he
is known as Wyatt (as in Earp). He is no longer that shy little thing
that he was the day we first met him. He is a handful, but in a good
way. My husband and I are so happy that he is now a part of our family.
He is adjusting to his new home, as we are adjusting to ours. He has
already made friends with the other dogs in the neighborhood and they are
teaching him the lessons he needs to be taught. He has become a wonderful
companion to me, especially when my husband is at work. Those are the
nights he gets to spend in the bed and not in his kennel. He loves
to cuddle! Here is a picture that I took a couple of days ago. It seems
as if he has grown since then already! His first vet appointment was
on May 10 and another on the 31st. In those short 3 weeks, he gained
6 lbs! Thanks again for introducing us! Kimberly and John, 6/9/2003
Max is perfect! I love him so much.
In fact if you ever come across a female, please let me know. Al and
I would love to have another at some point. Max would like it I'm sure!
I had some challenges with him in the crate initially. I thought I
might have met my match for sure! Let's just say he did NOT like the
cage. He disliked it so much that one day I came home for lunch to
walk him and as I walked up the stairs, I could hear him scratching on the
kitchen door. I though "huh??" I know I locked him in his cage
earlier. I peeked in the kitchen to see Max OUT of the cage, the cage
still locked, the cage had moved about 12 feet. Well, the little smarty
had managed to push (and how he even did this still amazes me) the tray out
from the bottom of the cage, then must have somehow gotten his nose under
the cage (proof from the red rubbed placed on his nose) and then lifted the
cage just enough to escape out the bottom (the rails are spaced wider than
the sides). Wow! I'm impressed!! Anyway, I gave him a break
from the cage for a week while still having him caged at night in my room
(which was against my training theory, but he seemed so stressed about cages
- and I don't blame him after being in the pound). I had to teach him
that the cage was not a "bad" thing, which took some patience. I attached
the tray to the cage with 8 zip ties and placed carpet under the cage to
help prevent it from bouncing around, should he get crazy ideas again.
Anyway, he is now doing great in the cage. Not even a peep, and the
cage is in the same place I left it and Max is still in it! He does
hide under Emily's bed to see if I will forget to put him in the cage - yeah
right! He is walking much, much better on a lead now too. We
are getting there! I haven't gotten consistent heeling down with him
yet, but he is beginning to get the hang of it. I will send through
pics soon. He goes this weekend to the vet for shots. His coat
is looking great. He has taken many trips to Colleyville with Emily
and I to my parents. I promise I will bring him by soon so you can
see him. We love him so much!!!! Thank you!!!! - Bridget
Just an update. They (Tucker and Scout) are doing great. I see what you mean
about them playing, eating, sleeping together. They play hard then the next
thing you know they are down for the count. They love the back yard (and
my flower bed). I joke with Joey about it. I should have planted dog
food instead of flowers!! We took them yesterday to the vet for their
shots and exam. Tucker gets car sick. The vet said they are both
doing great. Tuck weighs 12.5 lbs. and Scout weighs 15.5. They
were too young for rabies. We take them back in three weeks for that.
She gave us the Heartgard to give to them today (since Tuck was getting sick).
I have finally finished a roll of film I hope to get developed today so I
can send you pictures. Our older dogs didn't know what to think but
have adjusted great. Actually, Brandy has become Mama to them and cleans
them every chance she gets. Also, she has become a puppy again.
She is playing with them and us like she has never done before. It's great.
Hope all is well with you, your family and the rest of Tuck and Scouts family.
Look forward to hearing from you. Elizabeth 4/26/03
Just wanted to let you know that Carter is doing great. He is adjusting
well and we are all getting use to each other. Our other dog who was
not eating, Bosco, is eating and he and Carter play together all the time.
They lay next to each other on the couch. Carter is getting use to
us leaving and knows we will be coming back. Carter also follows my
husband around the house and goes looking for him when Johnny is not in the
room. Carter also finally lets me hold and love on him. He gives
me kisses when asked, and he now knows "Sit" -- for a treat of course.
We took Carter and Bosco out and took pictures of them in the bluebonnets.
When I get them developed, I will send you some. We are very glad we
were able to get Carter. We find that we love him more and more each
day. Bosco and Carter run and chase each other in the back yard a lot,
but Bosco being 14 years old tires out sooner than Carter. I am so
glad that they get along. We love them both and don't know what we
would do without them. Carter is funny and full of life. Thanks
so much for letting us adopt Carter. I will keep you posted and will
send some pictures. Sincerely, Janeice 4/12/03
Dear X-foster parents, When you knew me my name was Baby. My
new name is Nelly Belle Newell. I hope you remember me, I am the spaniel
mix with the brown and black spots on my legs. I just wanted to write
and thank you so much for taking such good care of me while you found me
an adoptive family. I know that lots of pups aren't as lucky as I was
to be found by you. I owe you my life. Thank you very much.
Now, let me tell you. I have found dog heaven! My new Mom and Dad,
Malia and David, treat me like a queen. I have my own little sofa at
the end of the bed to sleep on and a big yard to romp and play in.
They even bought toys for me! When I got here I met Girlie. She
was kind of shy and I think maybe a little(a lot) older than me. That
didn't stop me though. I was out to have a playmate and she was it.
Well, she didn't much like it at first but after much urging on my part she
gradually warmed up to me. Just when I thought that things couldn't
get any better, guess what? I got a new sister. Her name is Beatrice
and they tell me she's part Beagle and part Bassett. Does that make
her a Bagle? Oh, well, at first she ignored me. I guess that was because
she was new and a little shy. Today we chase and play and roll in the
grass. She's great fun and even likes her belly rubbed just like me.
We have what people call a doggy door and can come and go as we please into
the back yard. What a place! I love it and they love me.
Thank you again for saving me. You are all truly angels.Love, Nelly

slept with me all night like an angel. Best Wishes. -Holly
Tanner
is everything you said; he is simply a wonderful dog. Wetook him to the vet
last week, who confirmed the sentiment. As promised, we will take good care
of him. He is very much a part of the family and already beloved though I
know he must miss his other family. Thanks again for making this possible.
All best, -Judy

Sadie is doing great! I am so glad that she is a part of our family.
Thank you, Kelli & John
Hello Furever Friends!
My family adopted Cowboy (for the second time!) about four months ago, and
I just had to tell you how much we ADORE him. Even my dad, who doesn't really
like cats, has decided that this is one COOL CAT! Cowboy has decided that
I am his "mom" and comes when I call him no matter what he's doing or where
he is and he sleeps right next to me every night. My old cat was sadly put
to sleep last summer, and I thought that I would never find a cat that even
came close to him. Cowboy is definitely rivaling that cat as my favorite!
Thanks so much for letting us adopt such a fantastic animal!! -Allison
About 2 months ago, We adopted Bullet, (we named him Brutus), a 3year old
Dachshund. We were hopeful that he would get along with our female shepherd
who desperately needed a friend! He was kinda ragged with quite a few battle
scars. We bathed him, took him to our vet and got some allergy medication
for his itching. Recently, we had his "du" claws removed and the plaque removed
from his teeth. He has taken a little effort but his disposition is ideal
and we are happy to say that with just a few accidents, he is housetrained
well! Best of all, my shepherd and Brutus are the best of friends and he
has helped bring her out of her shell. They spend hours playing and are very
well-behaved. We are all very happy with the new addition to our family. -Karen
I found Willie on Petfinder.org. He is a
male Pekingese with one eye. I have another one eye Peke named Boo.
Willie is a little bit possessive with his toys, but overall he is a great
little dog. It is great to see all my 5 dogs play together. They
are my jewels. I will not trade them for anything else. Paws
love! - Ernie Smith 4/30/2002
We adopted Chicory (now named Fred by my daughter ) on Saturday 11/9. He's
loving and playful, and is getting more lively as each day passes. I'll send
a photo when I get a digital one taken of him. -Susan
