News
I used to do this in Arizona but now I am in Mason, Texas, where there are just as many good pets to rescue.
Who We Are
We are me, Marilyn Jones. The "One Dog at a Time" is a play on "One Day at a Time." And although I say "dog," I more frequently have cats and kittens for adoption. I can, however, steer you in the direction of some good canines if you are ready to adopt or want to do some shopping for an adoptable dog.
Adopting a friend
Unless specified otherwise in the pet's Petfinder listing, I don't charge an adoption fee if you can provide readily contactable references (veterinarian, friend, and relative). You will still need to fill out an adoption contract and, if you adopt a small kitten or puppy, a spay/neuter agreement that requires you to have the kitten or pup spayed or neutered as soon as it is possible (two pounds for a kitten). You will be asked to pay for the procedure yourself. If you adopt a pet that has already been spayed you will not have to pay for the procedure unless you would like to help me out. With the economy the way it is, I feel it's more important to get these pets into great forever homes than it is for me to recoup what I have invested in them.
Call First !
We don't have a facility; we have whatever will fit in my house. Here is what I recently told a friend: I have my own six dogs, four kittens in one bathroom, seven kittens and their mother in the other, an adult Snowshoe Siamese in the guest room, and asthma.
All the cats are available for adoption.
