The Animal Shelter usually has a variety of cats and dogs for adoption into new homes. These are animals that have been picked up or turned into the shelter and are awaiting reclamation by their owners. If the animal is not claimed within a certain period of time, the Lamar County Humane Association will pick the animal up for adoption and the animal will be listed under Petfinder.

Most shelter pets make wonderful, loving additions to a family. We adopt out everything from purebred dogs and cats to mutts and mixed breeds of almost every shape and color imaginable. All cats and dogs adopted from our shelter will be spayed or neutered. This is the law in Texas.
