"Mutt Mix" - Resuable Soil for all your needs!
In the spring of 2008, Four Paws Rescue was gifted a very large
supply of reusable soil from the USU Teaching Greenhouse. Up until this time, the supply
has gone to individuals for purposes of amendment (aerating clay soils), filler
dirt, top soil, raised beds, planter boxes, indoor plants soil, etc.
This facility contains several researchers working on many different aspects of plant growth and development. Research in these
greenhouses is restricted to non-hazardous materials, and all groups are regulated for strict health and safety practices.
The additives
used to grow these plants are similar to that of any typical greenhouse which supplies vegetable plants in the spring for our gardens.
In this soil you will find primarily sphagnum peat moss, vermiculite, and perlite. Smaller amounts of sand and turface (baked clay) are also present.
This material has been composting outdoors for about a year+ and some leaves and plant parts may be present.
Four Paws Rescue volunteers pre-bag this mixture and make it available in to you in 20 lb bags (we reuse old dog food bags!). Much larger
quantities are available, including pickup loads full!
So…when you have a small pot to fill up, patio containers, a new set of raised beds, a heavy clay soil you need lightening
up for a flower or vegetable bed, or some berms put in the front of your house, think of us!
$4 for a 20 pound bag
$45 for a truckload (truck not provided)
