KATRINA NEWS UPDATE (9-14-05):
While our vet and the mobile clinic is still in Slidell assisting animals, some of our staff members have returned from their trip. For them, it was an emotional, depressing and yet uplifting journey at the same time. We will be posting more information about the trip soon. For now, you can view some of our photos and read one volunteer's write-up of the trip online. We are still in need of donations to cover much-needed medical supplies that we will be shipping down to the shelter. If you can make a donation, please mail a check to P.O. Box 41112, Arlington, VA 22204 or you can donate via paypal to: email@example.com. Thank you! Every dollar helps!
KATRINA NEWS UPDATE (9-6-05):
At the request of Noah's Wish and Best Friends Animal Society,
we will be sending our mobile
veterinary clinic to Slidell, Louisiana to provide veterinary care
to the animal victims of Hurricane Katrina. The 26 foot state-of-
the-art mobile clinic features an on-board generator, hot and cold
running water, heat and air conditioning, a refrigerator, autoclave,
blood analyzer, and a surgical suite with two fully equipped
operating tables with independent anesthesia. Along with the unit,
Capital Animal Care is sending a team of two veterinarians, two
technicians, and two assistants.
From our latest discussion with those on the scene, we will be
handling emergency cases and surgeries related to traumatic injury
and illness. We will be departing early Tuesday morning, with additional staff flying
down on Thursday.
We have received many generous donations already and the van is packed full of supplies, food and other necessities. However, we can still use monetary donations to cover medical supplies, drugs, and gasoline
to/from. Checks can be mailed to P.O. Box 41112, Arlington, VA 22204 or you can donate via paypal to: firstname.lastname@example.org or via this donate button:
