Humane Society of Amherst County

Our Pet List

News

Virginia State Law requires that all animals adopted from a Humane Society must be spayed or neutered. It is our policy that no adoptions are made beyond Amherst County, the City of Lynchburg or counties adjacent to Amherst County, unless the animal is at least six months old and can be spayed or neutered before it leaves the area.

We have plenty of kittens and cats and puppies and dogs looking for loving homes. Remember, any time is a good time for a new companion! If you don't see what you're looking for today, keep checking. The perfect pooch or kitty may be just around the corner! :)

Have a great day and remember...

Until there are none, adopt one!

Let Participating Businesses Help the Animals

Some local businesses are willing to help the animals by donating a portion of their proceeds from customer purchases.  All that is required to make this miracle happen is for you to sign up.  Here is the current list of supporting businesses (click on business logo):

Are You Green?  Recycle InkJet and LaserJet through Us!

We can take your used ink jet printer cartridges or your laser printer cartridges and send in for recycling.  Not only does this help to save the planet by eliminating excessive landfill waste, but we receive a donation by the recycler which can then be used to help more animals.
