South County Cats

Special Donation Opportunity

from the sale of First Dog Merlot

Trooper, the state's first dog, is a Shiba Inu, a breed originally bred to hunt by sight and scent in the dense undergrowth of Japan's mountains. Trooper takes his responsibilities as First Dog very seriously. He and Washington's First Family are anxious to do their part in helping the state's humane shelters take care of animals in need, by making it possible for proceeds from the sale of First Dog Merlot to be donated to shelters around the state.

St. Hillaire Cellars, Governor Chris Gregoire, and retail stores that carry this unique wine, have joined together in a special program to provide donations to shelters across the state of Washington. $20 from the sale of every case of First Dog Merlot is donated to a shelter close to where the wine sale was made.

First Dog Merlot purchases made at the QFC in Wilderness Village in Maple Valley, will benefit South County Cats. Every $20 we receive for a case sold locally, will pay for the spay or neuter of a feral cat, plus rabies and FVRCP vaccinations.

We would like to thank Gary Jackson and St. Hillaire Cellars, Governor Gregoire, and Debby Wells, the wine steward at Wilderness Village QFC, for making this special donation program possible.
