The Appalachian Animal Rescue Friends (AARF) are a small group of animal lovers who have created a no-kill shelter & sanctuary for domestic animals in Mingo County, WV. There are no shelters in this area. Problem animals are often poisoned, abused ,or left to starve in the mountains. Since we do not receive any county funding, our resources are very limited. Our shelter consists of outdoor kennels & dog houses. Many of our rescued animals are 'permanent' foster residents due to age, health or past abuse. 

Our Mission:  Rescue & find loving homes for abandoned domestic animals, Intervene in cruelty cases, Spay/Neuter every animal in our rescue. Spread the word about pet overpopulation.

Our Goals: To buy our own land to create a safe, secure shelter & sanctuary for our animals. To have an operating fund from which to pay for food, veterinary expenses, spay/neuter, part time help & transportation
