Update March 24, 2006 Good news! The dogs from this hoarding case have been taken in by rescue groups and will be treated and placed into responsible homes. Another update 3/24: There is another hoarding case in Tucker County that Animal Control needs to act on. We are trying to find room at the shelter to take in the dogs from this new case. There are approximately 20 dogs from the new case. Tucker County Animal Control discovers dog hoarding case: March 9, 2006 In late February, Tucker County Animal Control Officers were called out on an animal neglect complaint and they responded. The complaint concerned one adult poodle. When the officers got to the location, they discovered 28 dogs (one of which had puppies), 15 cats, 4 rabbits and 1 duck. The Tucker County Animal Shelter has only 5 kennels and a small auxiliary kennel; however, all those kennels are full. All of the 28 dogs and other animals are being taken from the owner; unfortunate-ly, most of them are still in the situations pictured because of lack of space at the

shelter. We are seeking assistance from qualified rescue organizations to help these animals. We are not sure of their ages. Thank you to the concerned citizen who reported the initial complaint of neglect and also to those who volunteer to rehabilitate and rehome these dogs and cats! Below are photos of some of the dogs; more will be posted as we get them. We will also try to keep you updated about which dogs and cats still need help. There is a deaf dalmation, hounds, labs and lab mixes.....

A couple of the dogs have rescues lined up for them, but the rest still need help, especially the cats and larger dogs. Please email Minnie to inquire about a particular animal. Also, we would like to ask for donations to help with the veterinary care. Unfortunately without extra funds some of the cats and dogs will not be able to be treated, since there is no way to get the hoarder to cover veterinary costs. So far there was a poodle with several large tumors and a poodle with eyes that had to be removed they were so swollen. All of the animals were very thin. Most of them still need to be evaluated by a veterinarian. Donations may be made out to Tucker County Animal Control and sent to Tucker County Animal Shelter, P.O. The owner has surrendered all of the animals over to Animal Control instead of going to court to fight neglect charges. She will not be permitted to possess any animals in the future and this restriction will be enforced by Tucker County Animal Control.

Just added March 13: Shepherd/ husky mix female puppy, just 3 months old, was chained out to a cement block. This is another one of the 28 dogs taken from the hoarder. She is a real sweetheart. We were able to get her Sunday, when we got there she was in nothing but mud. On the ride back to the shelter she was so happy she kept kissing Cathy the whole ride home. She is very young so it will be easy to help her forget where she was and how she had to live. She is so happy to be in the shelter where she is warm and dry. So all that's left is for us to find her a good home with a lot of TLC.

Female black/white terrier These dogs are still in the situation due to lack of space at the shelter.	Female chi mix she recently had pups the hoarder liked to breed these dogs for money. The pups have been rescued.
Small red female mix. She is living in a trash can.	Male beagle, if you look at his dog house he has no front on it and no straw or blankets to keep him warm. Also no food or water.
Male chihuahua mix little guy	Male Jack Russell mix It's not a good place for them we need to get them out of there and into homes as soon a possible.
Male poodle There is a riding mower by him that he keeps getting tangled up on.	Update: This is a male. Second poodle not sure if it's a male or female yet, as you can see it is also living in a trash can or a oil drum barrel of some type.
