In the middle of winter, in the northern mountains of West Virginia, Ginger and her two sisters, her mother, and 24 other dogs were being tied outside in the cold by a hoarder without adequate food, water, or shelter.
All of the dogs were dirty, scraggly, thin, and had not had much human contact. The puppies were pretty much on their own and Ginger, being the smallest, didn't get enough to eat. All were full of worms and very scared.
Cathy and Minnie from Tucker County Animal Control went in and took all 28 of the dogs to the shelter, fed them, and started to get them healthy. The pups went into a foster home, Mom was adopted into a home, and they were vetted, petted, and fed well. Their coats started looking much better, they had lots of attention....
The pups were very scared at first and ran from people...now they love people, and they started gaining some much-needed weight. Little Ginger was adopted by Donna, who keeps us up-to-date on her. Ginger is a very lucky girl and gets lots of walks, love, and a great friend named Chester to play with. It just goes to show you how a caring person can make such a big difference. |
