Spanky
loving his new home and his new family

Read about Spanky's first day with his new family!

"Spanky is WONDERFUL!  He got sick on the ride home and had to get a bath once we arrived. He didn't like the bath too much! We played a lot and he took some afternoon naps very nicely in his little bed we put next to the family room fireplace. He also loves to lay next to the sofa while the boys are there reading or watching TV.

His first day went so well!  He had no accidents, played in the yard with the boys (they're working on "fetch" with him) and met his big sister, Sugar. They are coexisting peacefully. Spanky wants her to play, but she's not ready for that yet. She just acts as if he's not there. She'll warm up to him!"

"His first night, he slept about 5 hours before I had to leave him out in the morning. He sleeps next to my bed and only whimpered for a few minutes before going to sleep. He went wee wee first thing outside and was so proud of himself!  I must have let him back in too soon though and he had a pee and poo accident in the house that morning. I have since learned his signals and the rest of yesterday went very well and so far today... no new accidents!  We give him a treat and praise him like crazy after he goes wee wee. We let him out every 2 hours (sometimes more because the boys enjoy taking him outside) or if he starts to whimper and pace. Then I know he has to poo!

Last night, he even told us when he wanted to go to  bed!  It was about 12:00 and he started going to the stairs, running back to look at us and going back and forth. So I went upstairs with him (he has mastered our stairs very well!) and he went to bed without a sound!  He slept all night through til 7:15 !!!!  We were so proud of him!  I left him out right away and he went wee wee in the yard like a big boy!

Thanks again for allowing us to adopt him. We all love him so much and he is such a great addition to our family."
